5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful love story March 14, 2013
By Stefany
Format:Kindle Edition
**This review may contain spoilers**
We start this story with Jenn. Jenn is dealing with a betrayal like no other. People she trusts hurt her beyond what any normal person could take. But, Jenn is a fighter throughout this story and blows my mind with the strength she has. When I would be hiding away from the world, Jenn embraces her life in a way that I could only hope to do in similar circumstances. She cares about her career and even the family that, in my opinion, does not deserve her. She does something in the beginning that changes the way everyone in the book behaves... she writes a note. This note gets into the hands of Shane by accident and it leads to many uncertainties and quite a few questions among the characters.
Shane is at war. He is a soldier that was betrayed by his soon-to-be wife and he has to figure out how to move forward. On a layover in Maine, he decides to stop and visit his cousin instead of going to North Carolina to deal with the fall-out of his broken relationship. This decision is the one that leads him to have contact with Jenn. Their situations are so similar and yet they are both afraid to let others in. Shane has to go back to war but chooses to not share this information with Jenn until the very end of his leave, despite knowing it will hurt them both when he leaves.
Shane and Jenn have a number of adventures together during his time in Maine. They spend time getting to know each other while still keeping parts of their life secret. The note comes back into play when Jenn finds it. This suicide note may not be all it was thought to be though and while it was the reason for Shane getting to know Jenn, it certainly isn't the reason he stayed. Shane has to go back to war and throughout the story you wonder what is going to happen.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome story! March 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
WOW! Just WOW! I received an ARC of this book from the author with the request of writing a review when I finished reading. I've read the Honor series and love it. I read White Trash Beautiful and it wasn't my favorite. Suicide Note is ah-maze-ing!!!

I think this story depicts how hard it is to truly trust and love someone through military deployment. I've never experienced that but the author, Teresa Mummert, is a military wife. I trust she knows what she's talking about.

The two main characters, Jenn & Shane, have been through some rough patches in their lives and most recently bad breakups. Neither are looking for someone to love when they meet. I think Shane is a true southern gentleman while he's on a mission to make Jenn smile. He's an ideal book boyfriend, especially once he lets go of the past.

This is definitely a 5 star read and one you must check out!!! Teresa Mummert's writing is fantastic and deserves 5 stars on this book. :-)

1.0 out of 5 stars So so bad... March 15, 2013
By Melissa
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wanted to love this book. I REALLY wanted to love this book. As a Military wife of eight years, I have been through four combat deployments, and this book is just SO unrealistic. And not just that, it's just not a good read. The characters are boring. The storyline is awful. I love books. I love reading. I bought this book the day it was released and it was a waste of time.

1.0 out of 5 stars I tried but I just couldn't finish March 27, 2013
By SaraBN
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
At the time of my review there are 188 5-star reviews for this book. Is all the greatness in the 2nd half of the book? Because I have yet to find it. I got to 54% and just had to stop. I don't care about the characters, they're boring, I do not feel any sort of connection between them. The dialogue is very simple and somewhat choppy. I hate to write a bad review because this was someone's hard work and I know I could never write a successful novel, but this book did not live up to my expectations. Very disappointing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible March 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Jenn was the most pathetic character EVER. It would have been fun to read if she was heroic and funny about the crazy things life throws at her but instead I found her annoying, clingy and needy.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read! March 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Its amazing how much life can change when something accidentally lands in the hands of a person it wasn't supposed to.Its all about those tiny things that happen that change history. So many different lives are changed by one letter.Jenn is struggling with life,Shane is dealing with his own pain and his cousin who is Jenn's Boss is dealing with his own family issues. There is so many great things about this story that I wish I could just shout them out loud to all you readers BUT I do not want to post spoilers.Let me just say this.If you are military related(spouse, girlfriend) you will definitely be able to relate to this book.I will also say that If Shane deserves to be called a hero in so many ways he is just full of amazing. This book goes back and forth between Jenn and Shane and its done correctly so it is easy to read and switch back and forth. You aren't left guessing who is talking. All I can say is that this is a MUST READ.

It is a Contemporary Romance not Young Adult.Although I suppose a mature reader could handle this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not great March 14, 2013
By Micah
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book was good. Not great, but good. The things I loved about it:

1. The romance between Shane and Jenn seemed genuine and moved at a realistic pace for a military couple. As a military wife, whether good or bad, dating relationships move quickly for the most part. Duty stations change or the military calls and they will ONLY move married couples. My husband and I married after 8 months of dating, but that was because we had a deployment in the way. It would have been sooner. So that was VERY realistic. I really liked how they were friends FIRST and then hooked up.

2. I really like when books have dual first person points of view. I really liked looking into Shane's head. Although I felt his point of view was largely feminine, I don't really mind :-). I read romance for the mush.

3. I liked that they both had crappy exes. It made it realistic. Although Jenn's was on another level...still, we all have crappy past relationships that we have hang ups about. And with him being in the military, you really needed someone to have left him because its too hard. Because IT IS hard and not every woman/man can deal with the separation. The fact that she moved on to a new man before she could even talk to him about it is VERY true and happens daily, sadly.

Ok. What I didn't like:

1. There were some editing errors. Not enough to make me throw my kindle, but when there is a there/their/they're or a your/you're mistake, it makes my brain hurt. There were some errors. I would edit ANY book for FREE just to prevent this type of thing from happening. I hate PAYING for a book, a craft of written word, only for it to have errors throughout.

2. The beginning was slow.

More About the Author

I was a Russian spy at the ripe age of thirteen, given my uncanny ability to tell if someone was lying ( I also read fortunes on the weekends). By sixteen I had become too much of a handful for the Lethal Intelligence Ensemble (L.I.E.). I was quickly exiled to the south of France where I worked with wayward elephants in the Circus of Roaming Animals and People (C.R.A.P.). I was able to make ends meet by selling my organs on the black market for pocket change and beer money. At the age of twenty three I decided to expand my horizons and become a blackjack dealer in Ireland. I loved the family atmosphere at Barney's Underground Liquor Lounge (B.U.L.L.). People couldn't resist the allure of Liquor up front and poker in the rear. Eventually I became tired of the rear and headed off to the United States to try my hand at tall tales. That is what brings us here today. If you have a moment I'd like to tell you a story.
