Editorial Reviews

What happens when you try to eat a cow? Gluttony and hilarity combine when three high-school students try to take on eight-pattied hamburgers from Wendy's in "The Octaburger Challenge." Aidan "The Manly Man" Lancaster has a big mouth, but does the heart of a champion beat underneath the hot-shot attitude? Heather "The Girl" Huffman seems tough, but will her can-do attitude make up for her small stature and lack of experience? Kyle "The Underdog" Erf is small and unassuming, but can he fit over two pounds of meat in his mouth? The documentary follows the contestants from pre-to-post octaburger, and explores their personal lives, as well as their reasons behind their choice to enter the competition. The octaburger-originators also appear, offering advice and reminiscence about the first competition, and its results.

Things get bizarre mid-competition as the contestants start to slow down, and the meat takes its toll. One contestant drops out, and the final two must race to complete the octaburger. Directed by Corey Johnson, produced by Davis Caraway, and featuring music by bands Reed Indeed and My Friend the Magician, "The Octaburger Challenge" is a sure-fire source of laughter and revulsion. If you have popcorn, make sure it's gone before the first twenty minutes because, in this competition, the only way to win is to put your meat where your mouth is.
