Odd Couple song origins...,
By Patrick Moore LMT BA (Tucson, Arizona) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Odd Couple (MP3 Download)
I play a lot of jazz while writing. My wife doesn't know a lot about jazz but she noticed a song I was playing sounded like the Odd Couple theme...
Neal Hefti recorded a precursor to the odd couple theme as "City Style" on his 1965 soundtract LP, "Sex and the Single Girl." But that wasn't it. "Bag's Groove," first recorded by Miles Davis' in 1954, must have inspired Hefti. If you'd like to hear for yourself, search amazon for "Bag's Groove" or better yet watch "Milt Jackson" play it on the vibes at youtube. you'll be in for pleasure. |
