Book Description

After losing his sight in a terrible accident, only to learn that the woman he was planning to marry did not love him enough to accept him, Damien Falconer was devastated. Struggling to cope with his disability, he isolated himself from society, allowing no one to get close to him, but his personal assistant, Jake. Upon learning Jake was soon to leave his employ and return to Scotland, Damien was forced to advertise for his replacement.
Among the applicants who answered his ad was Lisa Andrews, a registered nurse from Connecticut. But Damien was adamant that he would not be replacing Jake with a woman. His argument was, he did not feel comfortable with a woman doing the things that Jake did for him, but one whiff of Lisa’s unique scent and Damien found himself fighting a blistering physical attraction the likes of which he’d never known before. Should he hire her or should he ignore what his “other” senses were screaming at him, about this woman. Damien rustled with the question for several days, but in the end, he caved. And so began a hunger for a woman he couldn’t see...could only recognize by her unique scent...yet wanted like he’d never wanted anything before.

Editorial Reviews

If high heat, steamy romance is your thing, then look no further than Ju Ephraime's The Odor of Violet. In her usual emotionally riveting and heated style, Ephraime has produced another winner. It's funny, loaded with passionate scenes and a joy to read.

From the Author

Like all my other romance novels, this one is STEAMY and HOT. I have again taken the liberty to write this book similar to the romance novels I enjoy reading. I love high heat, steamy romance novels and this is my writing style. If you are put-off by explicit sex scenes, PLEASE DO NOT buy my novels. I don't believe in closing the bedroom door like some others, I take you in there, right into the heart of the matter. (smile).  I hope you'll take the time to read this before buying my book. However, if after reading this, you want to proceed, then, Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fate calling! March 16, 2015
By Anari
Format:Kindle Edition
OMG I love a wounded antagonist and Damien Falconer is just such a man. Having lost his sight in a terrible accident he fears he will never love again... but fate has in store for him something rather special. A nurse, with a tantalising smell is about to enter his life and no matter how much he wants to hide away from the world, she is going to help him face things he'd rather slide under the carpet. This is a passionate, sensual and delightfully spicy read that will have you devouring the pages in a single sitting!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great read April 4, 2015
By Layne
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ju Ephraime has given us a well-crafted story of two damaged people fighting their mutual but inconvenient attraction to each other.

Damien was blinded in an industrial accident and Lisa was hired to be his caretaker. Although they fight it at first, because of the employer-employee relationship, what they feel for each other is too hard to resist. The author builds the story slowly, so when they finally give in to their desires, the reader is ready for them to take that step.

The sex scenes are tastefully done and an integral part of the plot, not thrown in for sheer titillation, unlike so many other books on the market today.

I enjoyed reading this book and will be adding other books from Ju Ephraime to my TBR list.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sultry Done British-style March 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
The Odor of Violets by Ju Ephraime is a classic romantic tale involving a wounded hero with an extra dash of steamy interludes. This modern tale is set in England and has a British feel to it, the most subtle attention to the smallest detail means a great deal. The best example of this is the sense of smell plays a primary role. It is especially important to the hero who suddenly finds himself blind.

Damien Falconer is a strong, independent man who takes care of vineyards and others. He'd never had to depend on anyone until an accident in the lab deprived him of his sight. The one person who he thought would be there for him, his fiancée, soon departs when it appears he'll never regain his sight. He hates rattling around in his house assisted by Jake, his friend. He knows he should try to learn to do more, but despondency weighs heavy since the life he knew winked out of existence along with his sight. Even worse, he overhears Jake discussing hiring an assistant since he won't be around much longer to do for Damien.

Lisa Andrews, a registered nurse, needs a job since her last client died. What she didn't expect was to find herself drawn to her somber patient. She is well aware that he resents her being there. Part of it is her being a woman, but another part she realizes is his inability to reconcile with his sudden handicap. At times, she wonders if he might be attracted to her.

Lisa and Damien have obvious chemistry, but two things make this more than just a romance, or a steamy one. Damien can't see Lisa. Therefore, he never knows what she looks like. With this in mind, he's more into her, as opposed to a purely physical yearning based on outward beauty. Lisa shows herself to be more compassionate because she can love a man whose flaws are more obvious.

4.0 out of 5 stars Smells like a winner to me! March 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I liked The Odor of Violet. The characters were believable and the story was steamy!

Damien had an accident that left him blind. Although the Doctors felt that he'd get his sight back, it had been a few years and he was still sightless. He felt like his life was just a shell of what it had been. His friends treated him differently and his fiance left him because he was suddenly handicapped (her words not his). His accountant and good friend Jake was the only one who stood by him and tried to help. Jake has to leave and so a search for a personal assistant ensues. This is where Lisa comes into the story.

Damien and Lisa both struggle to contain the urges they feel toward each other until eventually they can no longer fight it. They give in and the story goes on from there.

I really liked Lisa. She was kind and caring. I liked Damien for the most part except for when he hurt Lisa. I didn't like that part but what good is a romance without some angst?

If you like romance, give this one a try. It was fun to watch the characters dance around the elephant in the room (the mutual attraction between Damien and Lisa).

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion. I enjoyed it immensely!

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly enthralling, passionate and seamless romance January 12, 2013
By Priya
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The Odor of Violets is a very passionate and erotic novel. The author has unambiguously described the sexual feelings of a blind man, Damien, for his personal assistant, Lisa. The story gains charm from the moment of Lisa's interview. Damien is depressed and disheartened by his blindness, and by his friends and fiancée who have left him since the accident. In search of an assistant, he is at first hesitant at the idea of having an unfamiliar woman in the house, but when other candidates prove disappointing, Damien and his close friend invite Lisa to at least be interviewed. The moment Lisa enters the room scented with exotic violet perfume, Damien is instantly aware that something is going to happen that will change his life. The odor of that perfume, the violet flower being his favorite scent, soon induces in Damien a blossoming feeling in his heart for her.

The story reaches a peak when Damien can no longer contain his sexual desire for her, nor she for him, and Damien thrusts himself on Lisa's body and they both get extremely intimate with each other, but with a passion and love that is really from the bottom of their hearts. The author stokes up the burning and relentless love in an enthusiastic style.

Generally, in most erotic novels, authors just focus on the importance of foreplay and do not concentrate on the actual substance of love. But this novel is really very different, as the author spends time to portray the story line of characters alongside the sex scenes that are quite erotic and romantic. The romantic chemistry between the two characters induces sexual desires in your body as you keep on turning the pages. Ju Ephraime has described the true love of a blind man and Lisa, his personal assistant, in a very enthralling way.
