5.0 out of 5 stars BEARS. BEETS. BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. June 30, 2013
I have been a huge fan of THE OFFICE ever since its first season. And, up to and including the very last episode, I am glad I did. The Series was original in its premise and execution, the pseudo-documentary format opening up numerous previously little explored avenues of storytelling. And it was great fun to watch.

The setting (the office of a small branch of paper-selling company) and the stories (everyday life of the people found working in such a low-prospects jobs) seem mundane at first. And there lies the magic of the creators. For (if the endless strings of CSIs are any indication) it not hard to create good TV with car chases, gadgets and explosions. It is extremely hard to make excellent TV with only the everyday grind to work with. It seems effortless only because they made it look easy.

The brief one-way interviews each character had with the camera functioned as either prefatory summaries of stories about to unfold (building up the anticipation) or as instances of pushing back, yet never breaking, the forth wall, and, thus, making the viewing experience more personal and involving. All without the show ever loosing its step.

Producing, directing and writing will only get you so far without the right cast. And THE OFFICE enjoyed such stellar cast. Steve Carell may have risked getting typecast by creating the unforgettable character of Michael Scott but it was worth it. Jim (John Krasinski) and Pam (Jenna Fischer) served first as the precarious love interest and then as the familiar friends you care about and the rest of the cast was one successful pick after another.

I love, love the Office. "That's what she said". This DVD set is perfect. All the DVDs were great quality with no issues. The packaging was good. Enjoyed the extras very much. I laughed so hard at the bloopers too. Many ,many happy moments watching the Office from the beginning.

Jim Halpert: Question. What kind of bear is best?
Dwight Schrute: That's a ridiculous question.
Jim Halpert: False. Black bear.
Dwight Schrute: That's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought--
Jim Halpert: Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Dwight Schrute: Bears do not... What is going on?! What are you doing?!

Jim Halpert: Does that include 'that's what she said'?
Michael Scott: Mmhh, yes.
Jim Halpert: Wow that is really hard. You really think you can go all day long? Well, you always left me satisfied and smiling.
Michael Scott: Mmmm... THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!

Was very anxious to get this set to give as a gift. We were unpleasantly surprised to find that the first season had the wrong DVD in it (there was no Season 1 DVD at all, only 2 Season 2 DVDs) and another season had a damaged case where the DVDs didn't even stay in the case.

Contacted the seller to make it right, but got no response. Won't be purchasing from this seller again.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great show January 24, 2014

Excellent purchase, I totally enjoy this show. The delivery was on the scheduled time. I had already seen the British version of the show and it was a bit awkward to see that the first episode of the first series of the American version was an identical copy of the British one, although I read that it was a way of playing safe since it was an adaptation of the former show. I’m now watching the second series and really like it. It makes me laugh a lot. Additionally it has English subtitles that are very useful to me as a non- native speaker.

Such a fantastic show. Have just finished watching the last ever series and am very sad to see the end of it. Never fails to make me laugh every single episode is enjoyable. All the characters are unique and hilarious. Wasent sure about it when bought as a gift so left it in my wardrobe for a few months until finally bringing it out and it never went back. I have seen most episodes of how i met your mother, arrested development and modern family all of which i loved watching but definatly enjoyed the office most. Please give the show a try dont give up on the first couple episodes i promise you wont regret it!
