The Very first page says "Fitted for Boston and the New England States with special corrections and calculations to answer for all the United States" I would not have purchased. The actual OLD FARMER'S ALMANAC website I understand sells whole versions for the various parts of the U.S. I should have purchased it there. When you purchase your Almanacs at their website, you are asked which part of the U.S. you want... i.e. Western States.

There are many great tips and informative facts in this book. The Almanac is great in that way. Other than great detail for Boston and New England, for which this book is geared, there are merely one-page WEATHER sections for the other parts of the U.S.(pages 192 to 208 only), but most of the book is geared for Boston & New England. This book is also like any magazine.... crammed full of advertisements. This book has 288 pages.

I love my Farmers Almanac. I have been looking forward to reading it every year for 40 years.
And last year when I could buy it for my Kindle. Amazing. This year was just as great.
The only complaint I have is unlike last year all the weather diagrams are really really small.
And they will not enlarge. I can not read the rainfall diagram at all.
They are about 1/4 the size of last years. Please fix that folks. I just started reading.
So I do not know about the rest of it.
But I will still enjoy my almanac.......but only 4 stars instead of 5.

This is my second year buying the Old Farmers Almanac, and I really like reading about what they predict for the weather but also am interested in all the gardening and food preservation information they include as well. The old ads are pretty cool, and this book has some great old farmers tips and ideas for anyone interested in the weather for gardening purposes or just in general. I like it, and think it is entertaining and interesting.

I love the Old Farmer's Almanac. It's a goldmine of obscure facts, commonsense oddities, and useful tidbits about basically everything under the sun -- from astronomy to astrology, from farming practices to American history, from vocabulary to old-timey cooking tips (like cooking corn in a cooler. Who knew?!). The articles and tidbits are usually short enough that you can read one in just a few minutes, which makes it a perfect coffee table book. This version also does contain the storied weather forecasts for the coming year, too, broken down according to region, though it does say that it was "Fitted for Boston and the New England States with special corrections and calculations to answer for all the United States" (which was fine by me, since I am in New England).

I will say that the Almanac is not very intuitively organized, but I actually think that's part of the fun of it -- digging around and opening to random pages and seeing what you find. If you're looking for a quirky little book of diversions, you can't go wrong with this old favorite.

Each year, I await the publication of the volume with such anticipation! This year is no different.

This is a quirky work. There all sort of subjects covered, such as astrology, astronomy, food, "amusement," calendar, and so on.

But what is always special is the weather forecast. I am in Region 3. In November, temperatures are predicted as below average as is precipitation. December? Below average in temperature and precipitation. January? A snowstorm is predicted between the 6th and 15th.

Oddities. An article about the number of penalties in hockey; overweight pets; frosts and growing seasons.

I'm thinking I would get age-old wisdom from this almanac handed down from generation to generation. Instead, I got page after page of advertisements.

Wow, first time reading this almanac and the internet has basically replaced this series.

I "read" this on an airplane, noticed all the ads for older people, noticed I could have just wikipedia searched everything, then I left it on the plane because I thought carrying it around would be a hassle.

I was planning a trip to Vermont to bring a friend to Ohio. The Almanac said to expect above average rainfall. Our local TV weather forecasts were for good weather and we though that we could ignore the Almanac. Bad choice. It rained from Vermont to Ohio, sometimes so hard that we couldn't see the road signs. Now I see why Mom used to always consult the Almanac before scheduling our vacations. I don't know how they do it, but I'm a believer. Worth every penny.

I like the book it has dates and times as well as sunrise and sunset and a lunar calendar... Even if the book if for the wrong year you can still use it to figure out the lunar cycle and daylight hours within a few minutes. Would work good for putting in your time capsule or bug out bag... good for planting dates etc....

Although I admit some of the info in the book is really a bit out there... that's why I like it.

I have been buying the Old Farmer's Almanac for over 20 years, and use it as a reference for astronomy (phases of the Moon, finding planets, etc.). I always enjoy the articles too - and the recipes are terrific!

I also love the fact that it's modeled on Ben Franklin's "Poor Richard's Almanac" - small, compact and full of good information and humor.

I have bought these since 1977.
They predict the weather, eclipses, and inform on all sorts of things in heaven and earth.
Daily pages of facts and occurrences.
Tide tables, fishing times, animal birth times from inception.
Miscellaneous info fills in the rest.
A delightful addition to any bathroom reading library!
