I, too, grew up in northeastern Montana, though on a farm, not in town like the author. She has written a closely-observed account of a free-ranging childhood on the high prairie, with a bittersweet family struggle underlying the day-to-day events. I found it fascinating.

Written from the perspective of an innocent age, during the age of innocence. Carol Benson relates a remarkable story of childhood in rural Montana. My own childhood memories came flooding back with each page I read. Exceptionally well done and highly recommended!

This is a wonderful memoire! The setting in rural Montana is unusual and fascinating, and the writer's ability to put herself back into her childhood lends great authenticity (and humor) to the telling.
