I am in love with Stuey! He's a feisty, clever and funny kid who comes up with quirky and imaginative ways to get around his problems, like his difficulty with reading or his fear of being on the soccer team. But ultimately, he faces them, even his issues with his arch nemesis, a hilariously narcissistic girl named Lily (who deserves a book all her own, by the way!). The problems are
normal conflicts that come up with this age group but what sets this book apart is it's humor, honesty and authentic dialogue. The author obviously understands children and how they think. The relationships are believable and so are Stuey's little capers. I hope this series keeps going because I can't wait to see what Stuey, Lily and all their little sassy friends do next! This is a perfect book for not only second graders but advanced first graders, third graders as well as adult children like me who just love a great story with lively characters. It's a page-turner for sure!

I thought the stories were cute. I returned the book though because I had bought it for my son's 2nd grade class. The book used the word "stupid" referring to the brother, too many times to feel comfortable giving it to the classroom. Also the grammar was incorrect "me and my friend" too often to overlook it. I didn't want to reinforce that.

I read this book to my niece who is having adjustment problems at school. She really loved it and the reading opened up the way for a healthy dialogue about her own difficulties.

This book is amazing and should be read by all elementary age children.

This book is fun! It makes you want to go back to second grade. Stuey has problems but most of the time he figures out what to do. I stayed up past my bedtime reading it.

Great book that will really keep the attention of first and second graders who are starting to read chapter books! (Older students will also love the book.) Besides being entertaining, reading this book will help students gain empathy for their classmates who may be struggling to learn to read. Struggling readers will find someone they can identify with and who will boost their confidence. Looking forward to the next Stuey Lewis book!

I loved reading about Stuey's trials and tribulations. I think all kids feel what he feels as they find their way in school and with friends. If only we all had a teacher who had such insight.
Looking forward to the next book...and the next.
This book should become a standard in elementary classroooms.

I loved Stuey! I love how he gives a voice to issues that I can remember holding in my head when I was young. Jane Schoenberg so beautifully and easily brings light and laughter and deep insight to growing up.
