It's one. but not THE one...,

The song is ok. Just ok. It pains me to say that because Mary almost never does "ok". It's painful to hear her great voice covered up with auto-tune. This would have been fine for someone who can't sing but this style is getting outdated and boring sooo fast (ehem.. Akon?) and what I want to hear is hear is a *real* soulful voice belt it out the way only Mary can. I hope the new album is faaaar better than this, because I feel kinda disappointed.

MJB has a great voice. It's one of the most powerful in R&B. So why cover her up with a bunch of effects like vocoder, or auto-tune, or whatever they're using here.
She has a lot better material. Get this if you're a huge and have to have everything but skip it if not.

I am quite disappointed in this poor, poor single. It was the absolute weakest possible single that she could have put out and she thinks it's hot. It's not. This track is completely computerized and digitized and it gets on my nerves. I admit that Mary looks very good in the video but it doesn't change the fact that this song is just trying to fit in with the rest of what's not that great on the top 40 of Billboard and such. It might be a moderate hit, and people will be downloading this, but not because it takes talent to do this, because it takes little. I'm completely baffled as to why she would even consider this as a single. And her first one at that! In my opinion, she should have come hard to make up for the album that was Growing Pains which was overrated as hell. This song demonstrates what has gone wrong with the queen of Hip-Hop soul. If the album is like this completely, well, she will lose fans. That's all I have to say. 1.5 stars. end note: Auto-tune, Mary? Are you crazy?! Anyway, I'm glad this is NOT on her album. It's actually gonna be on the soundtrack to some movie that I probably won't even watch. But yeah. This song sucks. Bad. Sorry, Mary. Still a fan, just not of this.

Not The One,

There is honestly no question about the lack of really good R&B songs on the radio. With the dissapointement of Mariah Carey's Obsessed, she really had been shot down with a low that hasn't really been heard from in awhile. That sadly can be said the same with Mary J. Blige, and the feeling on her latest single, The One. The feeling tries to showcase a mire dance-driven vibe from Mary's voice, but it just deeply doesn't fit heart and soul with Drake at all. The song cannot even measure up with the heart and soul that Mary had shown a few years ago with the songs she had made her album The Breakthrough. I really didn't feel it here from the Queen of Hip Hop / Soul at all. I hope that Mary can find a better song to strike the chord much more than this one did. It wasn't even close to being one that actually could've made a spark.
