Product Description

Platform: PlayStation 4 | Edition: Premium

The Order: 1886 is a deep, story-driven single-player experience that introduces players to a unique alternate history and a dark vision of a 19th century Victorian-Era London. It is the dawn of a new age, an age of scientific marvels, but underneath the dense London fog, in the shadows of the Industrial Revolution, enemies both old and new threaten to throw the city and the world into chaos. Watching over the city are humanity’s only protectors, an elite band of Knights known as The Order, and the outcome of this struggle will determine the course of history forever.

Where History and Myth Collide

Set in a rich, detailed world that fuses real historical figures and events with new fictions and twists on familiar myths and legends, The Order: 1886 presents a unique vision of Victorian-Era London never seen before.

Centuries of Conflict

In this alternate history, a dangerous foe known as Half-breeds emerged centuries ago. In response to this new threat, an elite order of Knights formed to protect humanity from this deadly threat.  Strengthened by a mysterious liquid called Blackwater, the Knights of The Order are able to heal their wounds and extend their lifespans in order to engage this supernatural foe.

It is the year 1886, and through the dawn of the Industrial Revolution, humans have advanced technology to gain an advantage in this war.  Now equipped with powerful weapons to aid in their struggle, The Order is starting to turn the tide against the Half-breeds.

A New Threat Arises

While the Half-breed threat is pushed back into the shadows, a rebellion emerges that threatens an already unstable peace.  Tight security measures that amount to a near police state, combined with a widening gap between the rich and the poor, have left the citizens of London angry at those they perceive to be the cause of their woes. The Rebels’ ranks are growing, as is their boldness, as they declare an all-out war against The Order and the government oppression it represents. Now, the Knights of The Order must face threats on all sides as they struggle to maintain peace and order.

 Danger Around Every Corner

Assume the role of Galahad, and engage both Half-breed and rebel as one of the most experienced Knights of The Order. Armed with a deadly array of advanced weaponry, utilize the third-person view and expansive cover system to float in and out of cover as you hunt your enemies.

The Right Tool for The Right Situation

Fire bolts of electricity to take out long-range targets with the Arc Gun, or rain down fire on enemies with the Thermite Rifle by dousing them in a cloud of flammable dust and igniting it with a superheated flare.  The weapons of The Order: 1886 are all based on plausible science and technology.

 Ahead of Their Time

Advances in technology have also helped The Order patrol the city and keep its citizens safe. Airships patrol the skies and are a constant reminder of the police state that controls Londoner’s lives.

Every member of The Order wears a wireless device to communicate with each other and the airships that patrol the skies. A variety of gadgets aid them in the work, such as the monocular that allows the Knights to see across great distances, signal airships via Morse code and more.

Filmic Vision

Immerse yourself in the gritty world of The Order: 1886 through the stunning, cinematic presentation made possible with realistic lighting and rendering techniques and a visual presentation that mimics the nuances and imperfections of actual motion picture cameras and lenses. The dirt on the camera lens, the dust in the air and the light passing through broken and boarded-up windows all make for a more realistic and believable presentation.

     Rich Storytelling

The cinematic experience is furthered by the deep, sophisticated narrative, featuring full performance capture for characters and scenes. Seamless transitions between action and story sequences work together to bring the rich narrative, rife with conspiracy, intrigue and betrayal to life.

Characters

Sir Galahad

You play as Galahad, an expert tracker and hunter whose instincts and skills, developed over the years fighting Half-breeds, are legendary among members of The Order. Jaded and numb to the violence he witnesses day to day, Galahad is world-weary with a calm, cool, professional demeanor. Protégé of Malory and mentor to Isabeau.

Sir Percival / Sebastian Malory

Sir Percival is a mentor and long-time friend to Galahad, and one of the few Knights who can match Galahad’s strength and ability. One of the eldest Knights in The Order, he commands everyone’s respect and is ready to work outside the bounds of the law when a situation calls for it.

 Lady Igraine / Isabeau D’Argyll

Under the tutelage of Galahad, Lady Igraine became the youngest member to ever be inducted into The Order. Now, as one of their most skilled and headstrong Knights, both she and Galahad share a mutual respect for each other.

      Marquis de Lafayette

Recruited for his tactical genius honed during the American and French Revolutions, Lafayette serves as Sir Percival’s apprentice and has become an invaluable member of his squad.  At times impetuous, his passion for freedom and liberty is only equaled by his love of women.

Neo-Victorian London

The Order: 1886 takes place in a painstakingly recreated Victorian-Era London, which features familiar places such as the Palace of Westminster, Mayfair, Whitechapel, the Crystal Palace, Big Ben, and the London Tube. But take a closer look. This alternate vision of London features new advances in technology brought about by an accelerated Industrial Revolution and the centuries-old conflict between Human and Half-breeds.

Giant airships patrol the London skies and electric trains traverse the city on elevated tracks above busy streets. Amid this alternate history, The Order remains a pivotal part of the kingdom with its council hidden deep within the halls of the government’s seat.

I just finished The Order 1886, it was honestly fantastic! I don't see why everyone is hating on this game so much. The story, graphics and characters are all amazing. The gameplay is solid and fun but it could be better. I respect other people's opinions of this game (except for Xbox fanboys) but this is a game you need to play for yourself and not listen to critics or people who are hating on the game for no reason. If you like story driven games and don't mind quite a few cutscenes, you should definitely give this game a chance.

A 9/10. This is a game made for those who appreciate a well-written story that has great characters that drives the game. While the shooting mechanics aren't "revolutionary" ( i wonder what new things reviewers have been wanting out of it. i mean third person shooters are an overfull genre you cant really expect anything revolutionary at this point) they are fun, realistic, and easy to adapt to. While QTE's are seen really often in the game they don't break immersion into the game's fantastic story. Like I stated before this game is for the players who want a story driven game that wont take up hundreds of hours of your life. This is also a great title for trophy hunters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Premium Edition Review. February 24, 2015

I'm going to review the actual premium edition and not the game. There are plenty of reviews about the game out there.
The Order 1886 Premium edition from a collectors standpoint, is phenomenal. It comes with a large custom shiny sleeve box which protects the actual collectors box. The collectors box is very shiny and smooth with the order logo. Inside, is a hollow journal with a metal black water vile inside. The steelbook is very solid, simple, and comes with DLC as well as stickers, I'm not too crazy about it but it's still nice. Last but not least is the statue. This statue is one of the better designed one's in my opinion. It's heavy, quite solid, lots of detail, and very large. When removing the statue from the plastic holder, due be careful. It's quite possible to snap something thin like the broken staircase rails, so please keep that in mind. This is a 5 out 5 for me, hope this helped.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like Jake said, this is why we bought the PS4 February 20, 2015
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4|Edition:Premium
Taking a break from playing The Order: 1886. I didn't realize it's almost 11 and I've been playing since about 5 (plus an hour between 3 and 4). I've not finished with it, I'm on Chapter 11 of 16 (we think, it's what we've read).
I will try not to give spoilers for those who are interested in it.
So far, I am in love. Visually, it's absolutely breathtaking that I fear I wouldn't be able to do it justice to try and describe it, but the world feels gritty and worn in places like Whitechapel, while they're clean and maintained in places like the counsel chambers. The lighting effects are amazing, as is the sound. Cut scene to you controlling is pretty much seamless to the point that you might not realize it (which can sometimes be a bad thing, but its fairly forgiving).
It's not quick paced action, which is where I see some of the negative reviews coming into play. It's very reminiscent of Assassin's Creed, but in a good way.
I would recommend it if you like games that are heavy with story, if you like quick paced action, this is not your game.
And one last thing....
OH MY GOD THERMITE GUN!!!!

Graphics: 10/10
Story: 8/10
Gameplay: 7/10
Freedom 1/10
Sound: 8/10
Music: 10/10

Graphics are amazing. Hands down the best looking PS4 game to date.

Story is good. A little fuzzy as the character's are pretty one dimensional and their motives are easy to read.

Little to no freedom to do what you want; when you want. The few and far between opportunities to wander result in nothing worthwhile or interesting. You are given cool weapons from Tesla, only to have them inexplicably taken from you for no good reason.

Gameplay is either story driven cutscenes/walking or Gears of War style combat. Once or twice you will use a turret. That's about it, but it's handled well and animations are top notch. There are also some "stealth" sections but that's the kindest use of the word. Very, very easy, even on "Hard" difficulty, I think I only died about 3 times in the entire game.

The sound/music is top notch and besides the visuals the thing I enjoyed most about the game. Each footstep echoes and the sound of lycans breathing in the dark and howling is fantastic. The music kicks in at the best moments and it's done very well.

Bottom Line: If you want a solid 10-12 hour story told with impressive graphics and amazing sound, you should pick this up. If you are a GTA/Far Cry/Thief type gamer and don't enjoy anything else, you will HATE this game. But if you can appreciate this game for what it is, and interactive movie/miniseries, then it's worth the money. The Premium Edition statue is worth it alone, but I collect that sort of thing. My two bits.
