2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the original March 28, 2012
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I was so excited for this game to come out. I waited for it for months... sadly it's not as good as the original. The most disappointing part for me is that they've added a time limit. And if you don't complete the level within the time frame then you have to start the level all over. What happened to the good old days where your character would just die of dysentery or snake bite?

4.0 out of 5 stars Nostalgic and fun July 24, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
As soon as I saw this I had to get it- I loved playing and watching my sister play Oregon Trail on our computer as kids. This version is essentially the same as the old PC version.

The differences though: driving that wagon and there's a story other than "get to Oregon with as many people alive as you can".

Driving the wagon is hard when you're going fast, and if you go slow all the time you won't make it to your destination before winter(if you don't it's game over and you've essentially failed.)
As for the story(ies), they have small affects on the game. For instance if you chose to play as the family whose father is a mountain man you'll find more berries when you stop by berry patches and your wagon will be more repaired when you rest.
That's something else- the hunting, fishing, and berry picking. Hunting and fishing are good, but they couldn't have created some kind of obstacle to obtain the berries? You just stop by a berry patch sign and tap it and voila you now have 3lbs.-30lbs more of food now. A picking game would have been just a good extra element.

2.0 out of 5 stars Eh May 18, 2013

I thought the game would have a little more to it... I get that this is a classic game but the 3D is almost pointless if you don't have a little more substance. I love the original story...it is history after all you can't change that. I think the game could have really gotten more involved in the hunting, fishing and gathering. Personally I just feel like the game I played 20 years ago had more to it than this minus the updated graphics.

3.0 out of 5 stars Oregon Trail
You really need a guide for this game. Controls aren't really responsive. Had a hard time with the fishing part couldn't get to the water to fish.
