Now, this is cool. Never found this anywhere else - you meet a player, Jordan, Malone or Mullin. You hear about them from everyone else, then hear about them in their own words. You really come away with a Portrait. And I was shocked about how much I forgot about Magic and the whole HIV mess. The All Star Game, The Olympics. Should he play, shouldn't he play. Should he carry in the flag for the U.S.? NBC made a big fuss over an opposing player asking for Bryant's autograph on his sneaker. Hell, back in `92 the ENTIRE world wanted Magic's autograph. One of the first things I read was the Opening Ceremonies section of this book, and how everyone in that parade reacted to Magic. Sent chills up my spine. And look at Magic now, part owner of the Dodgers. He's still a Dream. Wow. Great stuff.

An enjoyable, lively read. It's like receiving an invitation into the locker room, the private conversations, the unguarded moments. Compelling; the ultimate you-are-there, what they really think. The Original Dream Team: Portrait Of The Game is like a fascinating documentary projecting onto a screen in your mind.

The team of Stephen Jaffe, Tony Anthony and Lloyd Battista have crafted an engaging and informative look at the original dream team. It's the best I've read because you get the players words along with the sportswriter's words-- all distilled for dramatic effect.
