My dogs are not at all happy with The Original Sports Cap Washer, because my husband's caps no longer smell as interesting to them as they used to. I, however, outrank the dogs (at least as of this writing, I do) and I am very happy with it!

I do find that it does it's best work in the dishwasher, rather than the clothes washer. And when it tells you that you shouldn't use lemon detergent on your caps, it's telling the truth... unless you actually prefer the bleached (antiqued?) look.

Cap washer works fine, but you`ll get only one. I have no idea why they make picture of two, very misleading; I wanted two cap washers to wash more caps at once.
Instructions are easy and clear. Overall good buy, because washing machine is too harsh and hand washing is annoying.

Works well in dishwasher. I have a front-loading washer and dryer, which it advises against using it in. So, I use it on the top rack of the dishwasher and the cap comes out clean. I do take it out before it gets too far into the drying cycle.

It advises not to use in a front-loading washer/dryer or use lemon dishwashing soap (changes cap color).

As far as it breaking, the closing mechanism is all plastic, like the frame. You have to twist a little to get it right, but it doesn't take a lot to figure out. And if you aren't forcing it or trying to do it quickly, it won't break.

The product works great in the washer but not the dryer. The shipper however took way too long to actually ship the product. They also did not return emails. I will not buy from them again.

I ordered this item but got a "Ball Cap Buddy" instead of a "Cap Wash & Shape" (as pictured). No big deal since they're probably identical, but maybe worth mentioning. Amazon sold this for only $6 when I got mine and it's an absolute steal at that price. It's all plastic but seems to be pretty good quality and should last a long time. Hats fit well in it and come out of the dishwasher nice and clean. I was a bit worried that the curve in the hat bill would get flattened out but that doesn't seem to be a problem (yet). This is an excellent hat washer at a very, very good price.

I know some people complain about this thing breaking up in the wash machine so I was a little nervous about trying it in the machine. I had one a few years ago that felt a little stronger than this and I used it in the machine many times and never had a problem so I figured I'd give it a go and if it broke just call Amazon.

I used it on gentle setting with no spin cycle and no other items in the washer. I used regular laundry detergent and liquid softener. I hung dried each hat by putting a hanger through the hat adjustment strap area, while leaving the hats in the ballcap buddy. They all turned out looking like new and they all started with some pretty bad sweat stains and dirt smudges.

If you are going to use this in your washing machine just have some common sense. You probably don't have to go the the extreme that I did but I always will. DON'T throw this in with a load of towels or other heavy clothes (the directions tell you that). DON'T leave a high spin cycle on (common sense).

I didn't try the dishwasher since the washing machine worked so well. My dishwasher is a much older apartment furnished machine anyway so I wouldn't expect that particular machine to do well.

I own some wool caps and a front-loading washing machine. The instructions I received with my sample advise against using a front-loading washing machine and advise against putting wool caps in the dishwasher.

I've used this thing about 4-5 times now. Holds up well in the washing machine. Fairly easy to open, but you have to read the instructions to know how to do it. I just leave the hat in it while it airdries, hanging on a coathook. It says that you can use it in the dishwasher, but his hats were so dirty at first that I didn't want them in with my dishes! Might do it now...

I am not happy w/ this item. I've used it twice & the first time the cap was half out between the bars of the holder after the wash (on the gentle cycle) & the second time it came completely out. I don't have a dishwasher. I think the plastic bars are too far apart & don't hold the cap inside, so it's basically a waste of money. I would not recommend it at all.

They should advertise that it shouldn't be used for front load washers. It worked anyway (the first time I used it anyway), but still it would have been nice to know
