3.0 out of 5 stars Too easy July 16, 2010
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I downloaded the trial version of The Otherside: Realm of Eons but although the game has a good price and lovely graphics I decided not to buy it. After having played quite a number of these types of games, amongst them Echoes of the Past: Royal House of Stone [Game Download], Flux Family Secrets: The Ripple Effect [Game Download] and Pahelika: Secret Legends [Game Download], I found this game too easy. Whenever a puzzle needs to be solved, the hints tell the player exactly what to do. Right down to which objects are needed, etc. So consequently there was no real challenge involved, just finding hidden objects (easy as well, because the rooms are not over-stuffed with objects as is the case with most hidden object games) and then using them as instructed by the hints which constantly pop up automatically.

While I am not one who likes to try forever to solve a puzzle or game, this quickly bored me. The mini games that I saw during the 30-minute trial were too easy as well. I would give this game to an older child but I don't find it suitable for adults.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good game for the price ($3.49) July 17, 2010

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I just played the half-hour demo and for $3.49 (Amazon's price atm) this is worth it. The game has 25 chapters and I only got to the 3rd in my half hour demo. So it's a fairly long one. Yes it's easy, but the game mechanics are a bit different in that you have to find a number of objects to equal a main object. (you don't find PARTS of the object like the Treasure Seekers games, you find other objects). Then you use the "whole item" to interact. The graphics are crystal clear which is a must for me.

I probably would not pay $6.99 for this (the going rate for most download games of this ilk) but for half price I am going to get it. It's easy, relaxing, and pleasant.

I don't play with the music turned on so can't comment on that.

Hope my comments are helpful. 7/16/10.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Yes, this game is easier than some others. BUT,if you have kinda' poor eyesight (like me) or have grandchildren coming to your home who like to play your games, it is wonderful! I thoroughly enjoyed the whole game, and was sorry when it was over. This is definately one I will come back to down the road!

3.0 out of 5 stars Very easy game July 22, 2010

Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
Well I am glad I only paid $3-4 for this game. It was by far the easiest of any HOG's I've played. And it had some run-time issues on my computer that got very annoying causing me to exit and have to replay one room three times.

On the other hand, it did have many levels, the graphics aren't bad and it took me several hours to finish it - I feel like I got my money's worth. The mini-games were far too easy but the story line was somewhat compelling and finished up nicely. In each room, one has to solve multiple problems and there was always one mini-game per room.

If you're looking for some light entertainment that is not terribly taxing and not terribly expensive, you'll enjoy this game. Just make sure you turn your virus checker to run after you play or you might run into some conflicts.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Game March 28, 2012
I wanted to play this game because it seemed interesting and Namco was involved (one of the companies involved in Mishap: An Accidental Haunting - great game!).
The story was interesting. Miranda helps reunite a brother & sister with the help of a teddy bear - the sometimes not so helpful Jovie. The sister has a certain power; she has been abducted by a group known as The Order. The ending is more satisfactory than some games of this type that I've played.
No voice overs. Nice music but gets repetitive. Enjoyed the puzzles except the "match colored triangle pieces to a pattern" got old after awhile.
Nice graphics - the people looked like people.
Most objects weren't too hard to find - there is a hint button which recharges after awhile.
Overall, good hidden object/puzzle game.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I have to take into consideration the cost of the game when I review it. Did I get my three and a half dollars worth -- absolutely! Would I recommend it at twenty dollars? No, probably not. It is a typical search and find game. Some of the items in the inventory are combined for use in another scene. However, unlike many games that make you figure out which objects go together in order to move ahead in the game, this one does that aspect for you. Therefore, the search and find component is just that -- simple object searches. There are mini games as well, some are quite fun. They do, however, quickly become repititious. The story line is okay and there is a feature that allows you to skip it if it is too boring. A couple things that would have improved this game: 1) the developers should have made the player how to combine and use objects, 2) the story parts that were like movies should have either moved along faster or had options to forward to the next scene (similar to the dialog boxes), and 3) a greater variety of mini-games would have been nice. All in all, a fun game to play. It isn't too hard, but still enjoyable. The hint system is good and you can skip any mini-game after a small amount of time. It took about four hours to complete.
