Enlightening Book March 8, 2011

I've spent the last year getting my business set up. I'm at the stage where I want to launch the business but realized that I don't know anything about marketing. To compound the problem, I don't know anything about marketing through social media...until now. I downloaded Mike's book to my Android through Kindle and read the book every chance I got. This book is an easy read, which made it enjoyable to read while on the go. I highlighted many paragraphs and have revisited those highlights.

One of the things I like about the book is that you can quickly read the entire book, digest the information, and then review it again. Other complex marketing / business books are very technical, and I get frustrated within the first few chapters. This book isn't fluffed with fillers to make the book bigger. It's targeted, direct information that is easy to grasp so that we, as entrepreneurs, can quickly read it and act on it. With Mike being part of the SBDC, I also feel that the information is credible. Mike also includes the names of other sites that can be of great to the reader.

One of the aspects that made the book real and more credible was the high and lows the main character faced with starting his business. This is something all entrepreneurs can identify with and needs help with. Having a book like this, being able to receive free advice from councilors at the SBDC, and meeting with other entrepreneurs are important steps to staying encouraged.

The P.R.I.S.M Salvation is a great way to get introduced to marketing in social media.

Excellent Book February 14, 2011

This book was perfect for "getting my mind around" the business social networking concept. I had the good fortune of meeting with Mike Saunders several times through a Small Business Development Center (He covers this inside) before reading his book, and he had explained many of these concepts to me in person. I had come away from our sessions excited, but overwhelmed. The book helped me digest the information at a much slower pace.

Most of the book is written as a story about one person's journey as he implemented these ideas. At first, I was a little put-off by the style (I felt like I was reading a kids' story) but by the end I realized how comfortable I felt reading it, and how it helped me visualize the strategy I would use in my company while I was reading along. I recommend this book whole-heartedly!

This book shows how to use these social outlets in business and actually make more money!
