I purchased this book and laser cut one of the templates, then tried to assemble it. I quickly realized that it was missing components. There were more tabs needed for the container to hold together that aren't in the templates. I added the needed tabs in Illustrator, recut it and tried to assemble it again. This time it held together, but the proportions were wrong and it didn't line up properly. So, I started looking at the other containers in the book. Several of them are missing tabs to keep them together. Other ones, if you compair the template to the packaging, they aren't the same. I think that they hired someone to reverse engineer the packaging into templates and they did a terrible job of it.

Also, there are lots of templates in the book that aren't that interesting or complicated. Designs that you definitely wouldn't need a book to tell you how to make.

The templates were clearly just eyeballed based on the photographs. They are mostly unusable. I'd give it 0 stars if it were possible.

I feel that the templates in this book can catapult some ideas. I don't recommend copying the designs from here exactly, but they can really help with the design and inspiration process. You may also get a good idea of how packages are put together and be able to create some great work of your own.

This book clearly tries to ride the success of books on the same topic.

If you try to assemble things based on these patters, you will quickly find out, that they just don't work. So many of the patterns has a missing detail here, an inaccuracy there, and so on.

But if you just want to look at designs for inspiration, you'll be wanting your money back soon enough too. There are just too many "fold along the long side once, fold along the other four times" patterns, without any real creative value in them.
