From the Inside Flap

Deliciously satisfying and visually stimulating, The Paleo Chocolate Lovers Cookbook will free you from ever feeling restricted by the Paleo lifestyle. This book features 80 gluten-, grain-, and dairy-free treats for the health-conscious chocolate lover.

Known to botanists as Theobroma cacao  ("food of the gods"), cacao isn't just a flavor, it's an experience. It's no wonder that millions of people turn to chocolate for comfort and pleasure. Kelly Brozyna welcomes this heavenly treat into the Paleo diet with this innovative collection of recipes.

Choosing organic and ethically-sourced chocolate is equally as important as selecting sustainable meat. Addressing chocolate farming and production, Kelly and her husband present everyone's favorite indulgence in a global context.

The book concludes with a special bonus chapter--10 savory recipes that incorporate chocolate. While mole is well-known for its delightful use of chocolate, other dishes such as Spicy Massaman Curry, Tomato & Cherry Chicken Cutlets, and Chili with Roasted Butternut Squash are equally complimented by chocolate.

Enjoy these recipes from breakfast to dinner, and especially for dessert.

More About the Author

Kelly, of TheSpunkyCoconut.com, began to study nutrition in 2004 when her girls were very young. Her daughter, Ashley, was a baby and Zoe was a toddler at that time. Both girls were not well. Her naturopathic doctor worked with them to radically change their diet by removing gluten, casein, and sugar. Kelly and her husband soon realized that their own health problems could be resolved as well. It was very eye-opening to see how many kinds of issues could be treated with the diet. So, after years of research and experimentation, Kelly now creates food so similar to conventional wheat/dairy/sugar recipes that no one feels deprived. Together, through diet and biomedical treatments, their family is overcoming celiac disease, gluten-intolerance, ADD, and autism with great success. Kelly lives in Southern California with her husband and three daughters.

I am new to clean eating and Paleo and have not been super impressed with their versions of dessert. This cookbook changes all that! The recipes are easy to understand, even for a newbie and the results are unbelievable. The Chocolate pie with raw graham cracker crust was so good my kids were fighting over who got the last piece!!

Much like Kelly's wonderful blog, this book is beautifully photographed and it is filled from cover-to-cover with incredible chocolatey recipes! Even if you don't follow a paleo diet, which I myself do not exclusively follow, it is incredible for us that eat gluten-free, refined sugar-free and dairy-free. Plus, there are even a few vegan recipes, with plenty more that could be adapted by subbing out honey for maple syrup or another sweetener of your choice. I love recipes that support my way of eating and dietary limitations no matter what "special diet" title they fall under, so even if you aren't paleo or even gluten-free, maybe you are just looking to clean up your diet and avoid unnecessary things when you can - this cookbook is for you! It can be quite difficult to find recipes and cookbooks that fit my criteria but yet are still uncomplicated, don't require a long list of fancy exotic ingredients and have a bazillion steps! This incredible cookbook is FILLED with them. Simple, easy, uncomplicated and approachable - oh and have I mentioned totally decadent, sinful and rich, all at the same time!

I already have chocolate fingerprints on many of the pages in this cookbook, I have so many recipes bookmarked and I have made a few and each one has been more amazing than the next. I am so excited to now have a healthy chocolate "bible" of sorts, to refer to for the perfect chocolate treats whenever I want. An entire book filled with recipes, every single one safe for me and my way of eating. There are breakfast options, cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, candy and so much more. There is even a section of savory recipes including stews, salads and other dinner-time meals.

Let me start by saying that I have started eating dairy free and paleo for allergies and overall healthy eating. Since I refuse to make separate meals, my husband, three year old twins and eight month old baby eat paleo now too. They are all huge fans of the food in this cookbook!

The chocolate banana pancakes were devoured and didn't have the grainy texture like some paleo pancakes I have had in the past. I don't even have a fancy blender, so used a food processor instead, which worked perfectly.

We adore the chocolate zucchini bread- so moist it was gone in a day. I just love how it is made with cocoa powder, rather than sugar filled chocolate chips.

Next on my list are the cupcakes with my homemade fresh applesauce. I hear the cream cheese ingredients from the Danish cake at the front of the book make it heavenly!

Bravo, Kelly Brozyna. Yet another wonderful cookbook to add to my collection!

We have been cooking all natural/paleo for about 2 years now and I buy many of the paleo books as they come out because I LOVE cooking. I love learning new methods and learning about new ingredients but it can get a little overwhelming- my kitchen is like a mini health food store at this point. So at first I let it sit on the shelf because i saw more things i had to add to my huge stash.. hemp seeds, vanilla beans, chia seeds and so on.. So a couple weeks ago i picked it up again and ordered a couple items i needed and i am glad i did. Paleo style desserts usually fall short on sweetness or texture in my opinion and this book really gives a new spin on desserts.. and they taste great and are sweet enough for my tastes- many are super fancy but totally doable. They use cashews..stevia.. you can make your own chocolate.. all kinds of stuff in here to make and become inspired from. My husband likes a dessert in his lunch for work and this will be my go-to book until i make just about everything in it.

The Paleo Chocolate Lovers' Cookbook is a gorgeous cookbook full of delicious and creative recipes that everyone can enjoy. The recipes range from breakfast foods to sweets to savory dinner meals. My personal favorites include: Aztec Hot Chocolate, Hazelnut Pancakes with Chocolate Syrup, and No-Bake Chocolate Chip "Peanut Butter" Cookies that remind me of eating cookie dough! The beautifully executed color photographs of every recipe leave me excited to get back in the kitchen with this book.

The Paleo Chocolate Lovers' Cookbook has a helpful opening section discussing ingredients, troubleshooting, and equipment. Also included is an informative section on the background and ethical considerations of chocolate that I found very interesting and eye opening.

Whether picking one up for yourself or as a gift you will be happy that you did :)

I was already a fan of this author due to her ice cream cookbook, but but this book really takes the cake! This cookbook is an excellent choice for Paleo, Primal, or gluten-free eaters who would still like to enjoy chocolate treats in their lives. So far, I have tried the no-bake cookies, the chocolate chip skillet cookies, the chocolate pie, and the roast chicken, and every recipe was delicious.
My only complaint is that the index is terrible. For instance, the book contains a chocolate pudding recipe, but go to the index, and there is no entry for "pudding." I have found this problem in many paleo cookbooks. But, that is a minor inconvenience to suffer for such wonderful recipes.
