I give mine a solid 5 Stars.

As new stoneware may crack when initially heated, Pampered Chef offers a 3 year replacement warranty on their stoneware products.

And, after my poor experience with customer service, I don't think we will be purchasing any TPC items in the future.

I received this as a gift last Christmas. I was excited, since my wife and I love making homemade pizzas, and we already had a few things from the Pampered Chef. Surely this would be a high-quality product, right?

First off, let me say that we are not ignorant of thermodynamic properties of materials. We have never put a hot stone in water, or placed a cold stone in a hot oven. We place the stones in the cold oven and let the temperature increase gradually, and let the stone cool off with the oven.

The first time we used our new stone from TPC, I heard a pop from inside the oven. When I was putting the first pizza in the oven, I noticed a crack that separated a third of the stone from the rest of it. I emailed customer service the next day, and never received a response from TPC. Only after following up 2 weeks later did I receive a condescending reply stating that most cracks are from 'misuse' of the stone, but that if I sent the stone back they would send me a replacement. Seeing as how sending the entire stone would incur a shipping fee that comes close to buying a replacement stone at Target, I wasn't thrilled with this resolution. TPC did not agree to pay shipping when I made that request. They did suggest sending back the small fragment of stone instead of the entire thing to reduce shipping costs. I did this, and received a replacement. Two uses later, I had another cracked stone.

I am done with TPC pizza stones. They are obviously inferior in quality. Despite meticulous care and proper use, we have had 2 break on us. The second one even broke twice!! And, after my poor experience with customer service, I don't think we will be purchasing any TPC items in the future.

I received this as a wedding present, tried to use it for the first time and it split in two in the oven in under 8 minutes! Of course, I have the bar code for the product and the packaging and everything, but Pampered Chef won't even consider a claim unless you have ALL of the following info (aka, never give this as a present!!!):

The purchaser's full name
Order / Show number
The Consultant's name
The host's name
The city and state the show was held
The date of the show

Purchased direct from PC. Item does a fantastic job for pizza, cookies, anything that needs to bake flat. Items never burn on the bottom as with metal pans. We own many PC products and have never had an issue in the 20 something years we've been buying them. As with anything else purchased on the net however, if you have warranty issues you need to have purchased direct from the company or company rep.

I received this pizza stone for my birthday along with Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day and was very excited to try making artisan bread on a stone. Unfortunately, the stone shattered into five pieces on the second use. I figured this was possibly because in our small oven we had to position the hot water (for steam, which creates better crusts) underneath the stone. Fortunately, Pampered Chef replaced the stone under their three year warranty.

The second stone lasted for four uses. For all of them I was careful to use a much smaller container for water and positioned it out from under the stone. However, the fourth bread loaf stuck to the pizza peel a little bit when I was moving it onto the stone, and as a result the bottom of the loaf ripped slightly, exposing the wetter inside dough to the stone. Apparently this caused a small fluctuation in temperature and the stone broke in two several minutes into baking.

I do not recommend this stone. Although the handles are a great idea and made getting the stone in and out of the oven extremely easy, this stone just isn't sturdy enough to handle even minor temperature shifts that can result from coming into contact with wet dough.

Yup! Count me in with all the others. I have 2 of these stones and during a bread baking session "POP"... one of my stones broke in two. All necessary precautions taken. Buy this at your own risk!

Update: April 8, 2011... my other one broke. Stay away from this product!

Product was used twice to bake pizzas. During the second use, the stone cracked and broke while the pizza was cooking in the oven. Pampered Chef refused to replace the product, which I purchased brand new in box, because I did not buy it directly from the company. Horrendous durability and a company that does not stand by their products...buyer beware.

As new stoneware may crack when initially heated, Pampered Chef offers a 3 year replacement warranty on their stoneware products. They make their products widely available for purchase online, both on Amazon, ebay and elsewhere. However, their warranty is VOID when you buy their products from anywhere but their network sellers or online. This brazenly hypocritical policy undermines both their customers AND their network sales force, who are trying to peddle these products door-to-door, in desperate competition with internet wholesalers. Clearly, Pampered Chef is only interested in selling as many units as possible, without regard to the integrity of their products, and without regard for their network sellers, and certainly with no regard for their customers. Do not buy Pampered Chef stoneware products online. They break, and there will be no warranty.
