5.0 out of 5 stars I could not put it down... October 5, 2008
Format:Paperback
This is one of the funniest books that I have read in a long time. I absolutely could not put it down and I don't think that I have laughed this hard in years.

The Parent Trip is insightful, humorous and most of all just tells it like it is. Seriously this has become my new favorite baby shower gift and I cannot wait to share it with others.

If you have a child, are having a child or have ever seen a child, this is a book for you. I have caught my husband reading over my shoulder three or four times nodding his head saying, "Yep, you were exactly like that."

Run, don't walk to the store and get this book. Share it with others, too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Put The Parent Trip on Your Baby Registry--A Must Read! September 19, 2008
Format:Paperback
The Parent Trip: From High Heels and Parties to Highchairs and Potties

I'll be honest. I was kind of tapped out on the plethora of parenting books out there; however, when I stumbled across Jenna McCarthy's website and read excerpts from her book, The Parent Trip, I was doubling over in laughter.

Something different, something frank, funny, and full of straight talk regarding the sometimes bumpy, but funny, road to parenting! I read each hilarious passage, literally howling with laughter and saying "oh yeah, oh yeah!"

And, I could totally relate to her ambivalence toward children, especially when the author was younger.

Not only is the book a riot, it offers invaluable tips. For instance, I had no idea that it's not uncommon for many nursing mothers to have a "under" and "over" achiever. She also offers advice on selecting a sitter and what and what does not warrant a doctor visit.

Most importantly, she knows what every parent knows deep down inside, sometimes the "experts" are full of it!

This author takes us on a journey--and this is where the book is like a parenting memoir--from her early days as a youth when the seeds of "doubt" toward parenting were planted, to her first date with her future husband, who, coincidentally, is one of those guys who just loves children, up until selecting a pre-school for her child.

You walk away from this book feeling like your nicest, funniest, best "mom" friend has just shared with you every little important morsel regarding parenting, and then some.
