Our world is a difficult place to live, out there are a lot of countries with endless wars and endless hungied kids.
After 1992, Lucciano Pavarotti conceived a noble idea: "What if many artist around the world would reunited to make a great event and all the earnings of the events goes directly to those people that need help?","What is we make this event every year with diferent artists and singers?" , that's how "Pavarotti & Friends" became a reality.
No, this is not an opera compilation from Pavarotti, in this collection you can enjoy artists like U2, Simon Le Bon (Duran Duran), Michael Bolton, Dolores O'Riordan (Cranberries), Ricky Martin, Brian Adams, and a long etcetera making their best, and bringing their greatest hits; also, you can enjoy ensembles like Simon Le Bon and Lucciano Pavarotti singing together "Ordinary World", or Dolores O'Riordan and Simon singing together "Linger", or what do you think about Pavarotti, Bryan Adams and Andrea Boccelli singing "All for love"?, if that something that doesn't attract your attention, i don't know any other thing that will do it.
And last, but far from least, some of the expense that you make in these great dvd's is going to help a lot of people that desperatelly need help.

Luciano Pavorotti and his friends deserve FIVE stars, no less. I have tremendous respect for Mr. Pavarotti for blending in his talent for classical music with our contemporary artists such as Bono, Sting, Ronald Keating, Michael Bolton, and so many others. He is both noble and humble. You should hear his duet with Tracy Chapman. His distinctive voice is as unshakable in Nessum Dorma as in "There Must Be An Angel" with the Eurythmics. It's beautiful when an artist is confident enough to have a breakthrough when he ventures into another artist's music especially when it's so much different from his. It is both fun and enlightening to watch. Now, in fairness to Dolores O'Riordan of the Cranberries for being criticized in one of the reviews... one should realize that not all artists underwent formal training to be opera singers. It doesn't take an expert to appreciate GOOD music. For the entire collection to be rated one star is unfair just because of one's judgment on the poor rendition of "Panis angelicus". So what... when she made up for it in "Linger". There were far more exceptional performances of other musicians that shouldn't be overlooked. One should remember the effort Pavarotti put into what probably is his greatest achievement of a lifetime. Furthermore, since the whole collection was for a very worthy cause, isn't it enough that all those who participated be given some credit, too?

The Pavarotti & Friends Collection are very entertaining. The guest appearances are varied and often fun, many singing duets with Luciano Pavarotti. I especially like the kids choir from Tibet and Cambodja, heartwarming.

Some Italian artists are unknown to us. But there are also very famous names like Sting, George Michael and many others.

I find most concerts on DVD quite boring, but not these concerts. I recommend them to everyone.

This collection is worth the money ten times over....I still get the tingles when I hear Pavarotti and Dolores O'Riordan ("The Cranberries" lead singer) sing Schubert's Ave Maria...their voices are so in sync...and Dolores voice is so transcendent..
The collection is worth the money for this alone...buy it!...It will give you many enjoyable hours....it has me.

This is absolutely the best concert collection of all time. I love Pavarotti. What a great idea, what a great cause, to help the most important ones of all...the children of the world. To hear some of the artists sing opera, wow, what a wonderful job they all did. Zucchero, the Italian artist was very good. These dvd's are sooooo much fun to watch. To hear some of my favorite artists perform opera, well, what can I say.... Aqua, Funiculi, Funicula(fun little number that one was),I love the children in this one, soooo cute. Viva Forever, Spice girls,( this was a very kicky number, and Pavarotti looked like he was having a blast doing it with them). Vanessa Williams, Ricky Martin, Meatloaf..wow, they were very good as well. What a beautiful number Stevie Wonder wrote, and performed with Pavarotti, beautifully done. Now, let's get to Sting, what a beautiful job he did, singing along with Pavarotti, Panis Angelicus. This was the one Pavarotti did with his Father...so georgous, I cried. Bryan Adams, omg was he amazing singing 'O Solo Mio, who would ever think? I cried with this one as well. The song Jon Bon Jovi wrote for this occasion, Let It Rain, WOW! I love this song. Again, I cried. Thanks to Text to Speech, I can now sing Pavarotti's part in Italian, and love it, I am really good at it, I might add, but cannot get through it without crying. It is such a wonderful song. I am going to get back on to learn other songs, what fun it is to sing along with Pavarotti. Let's not forget the children, they were all fantastic, and looked like they were having a great time.....loved by all.
'Let's not forget all the songs Pavarotti performed, whoever he sang them with. He is soooo amazing, what a voice........we miss you Pavarotti...God bless you. I have several Pavarotti cd's, and dvd's, but this one is my very favorite one of all. It was sooo much fun seeing these performers singing along with my very favorite Tenor, Luciano Pavarotti. Dvd's are in top notch condition. I only wish there were more of them. Want to hear your favorite singers performing opera, singing along with the best, Pavarotti? Then, this is a must for your collection. I absolutely loved it. I would give this one a thousand stars if I could....and I do.

I have all of PAVAROTTI & FRIENDS Cds. I love everyone of them. Over the years I have played a million times. I just noticed that the DVD collection was available so I bought. Wow I am really impressed with everyone's talent, but more importantly you can see how much everyone enjoyed working together to help a cause. All I can say is Wow !!! Every concert was truly great....Who could give it less that 5 stars I don't know, in fact I wish I could give it 10 stars. The shipping was fast, I received w/in one week. Oh and the person that rated it one star said "THE TITLE SHOULD BE FRIEND'S OF PAVAROTTI BECAUSE HE'S ONLY IN ONE OF THE SELECTIONS!"...didn't he watch the DVDs? Shame on you...PAVAROTTI sang/participated in almost all of the songs.....and boy he looked and sang great !

This set contains a comprehensive set of the concerts organized by Pavarotti in his home town Modena.
The level of musicians and their enthousiasm in working with Pavarotti truly make these concerts memorable.
A must for classic and light music lovers.

I love these concerts, and to have them all in one package is great. But I found that the only performance missing is that of Celine Dion singing the song of Titanic. I saw it on Youtube and it is amazing.
WHY THE HELL DID THEY OMIT THIS SONG?!!!!!! That's one star less in my rating... .
