Book Description

"Moshe Sipper ... has probably crafted the best book in the entire history of bookism." (Portland Book Review)

"The Peaceful Affair is an utterly mad book, yet in a most
delightful way." (Sacramento Book Review)

Renowned detective Noro Myx is called in by the President of the United States to search for the missing War Treaties, whose disappearance could wreak worldwide havoc. Along with his trusted assistants -- Miss Lipps, the small giant, and the tall dwarf -- Myx eagerly delves into the affair, to quickly discover the treaties are but the tip of the iceberg. The investigation twists and turns, leading the gallant operatives to open Pandora's Box - despite her vociferous protestations - and leap into the depths of a far more nefarious scheme.

As the battles rage and the plots thicken Myx plunges forward intrepidly in a gallant effort to save the country, the world, and the day (Tuesday, to be precise) from the most horrific nightmare of all: nuclear peace.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"The Peaceful Affair is most likely the best book ever ... Moshe Sipper ... has probably crafted the best book in the entire history of bookism ... Sipper's cleverness and talent for wordplay works perfectly with the over-the-top storyline, and there is no point where this book is anything but a pure joy to read." -- Portland Book Review

"The Peaceful Affair is an utterly mad book, yet in a most delightful way ... If you enjoy a good laugh, you'll certainly find plenty of them here." -- Sacramento Book Review

From the Author

It would seem you either love "The Peaceful Affair" or you hate it -- 5 stars or 1 star --  without much in between ... The Portland Book Review defined my novel as "the best book in the entire history of bookism" while at the opposite end one reviewer (grandmab) opined that "this book was written by someone who was on serious drugs ..."
Well, I'm happy to say that I managed to get through the perilous high-school years without doing drugs nor even touching a cigarette, an attitude I've stuck with throughout my life.
I am addicted, though, to one drug: good reviews ...
I like to think of "The Peaceful Affair" as a cross between Sherlock Holmes and Alice in Wonderland, set against a backdrop à la John le Carré, with a whiff of Swiftian undercurrent. It may not be the best choice for light reading on a plane, but if you're willing to make some small effort, it's a "totally different book" (venky). As S. Hargis wrote: "It's the sort of book I will buy in paperback for friends in chemo ... It's a feel good book."
I do hope reading "The Peaceful Affair" makes you feel as good as I did while writing it.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Tormented Affair November 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Sorry, could not finish this one. Besides the comical nomenclature, I could not get the story line. I was a third way through and still could not follow the writer intent. I love to read but this was torture. Don't think I will try this writer again.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book September 22, 2013
By Assaf
Format:Kindle Edition
I picked up this book somewhat suspiciously, being leery of humor combined with mystery. But Sipper proves his mettle -- and then some. This is an awesome story, and I'd recommend it to anybody who loves Sherlock Holmes -- but with a sense of humor...

From Miss Lipps to General Orgie de la Fesse, this humorous imbroglio is a wonderful read that is hard to put down. The plot is gripping, and the characters are so unique as to render this novel a classic. Very highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best book I've read in a long while! September 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Moshe Sipper has created a world in which war is ubiquitous -- to the benefit of all mankind. And detective Noro Myx is called upon to solve a mystery of disastrous consequences, a global plot to bring about nuclear peace -- a horrific nightmare. Great read, lots of fun!

2.0 out of 5 stars not my type October 8, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book reminded of a satire and not my favorite type of reading. The main characters were colorful and unusual but still not enough to hold my interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantasy and SCI-FI Story!!! September 9, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fascinating, funny and frightening, the Peaceful Affair book motivates to support complete nuclear peace. The book relies on fantasy and sci-fi background. The author wrote this book with fun story and well-written. If you like any kind of sci-fi book. I would recommend this book. :)

I really tried to like this book. However it was just too confusing. Trying to figure out who was who and the ambiguous characters with the ironic tone was just too exhausting. Read more

2.0 out of 5 stars Twisted humor
Very odd. Unique sense of humor, but it became wearing after a while. I doubt I will finish this book. I have put it aside 2 or 3 times already in favor of other books.

2.0 out of 5 stars affair
Very clever initially but very hard to sustain a complete read. Zany characters with lots of humor and word play, but probably would have been better as a much shorter novel.
