"This is the greatest Christian novel on the market today! When I read the beach scene, especially, I was completely frozen in my seat and couldn't even breathe! And just when I thought the book had fully climaxed, it kept getting better and better. Wow! Thanks to this amazing story I have completely rewritten my will. Once you've read The Pelican Trees story for yourself, you'll clearly see why I did it. It truly is a must-read for everyone!"

The Pelican Trees has a great story line! It is captivating. The characters are well defined - I felt as though I knew each one of them. It is exciting. The reader never knows what is going to happen (even though we suspect how it will all turn out in the end.) It was hard to put down.

That said, the reason I gave it a 3 was because it needed an editor, preferably someone with a good knowledge of proper English. Constantly the wrong case of pronouns was used. I don't know how many times sentences had a singular subject with a plural verb. As one other reviewer said, parts became tedious. The descriptions of the spiritual warfare were overdone. We didn't the repetition of demon description. How many times in the book were we told how long ago Luther had moved to Florida and all the details of Mabel's husband's death, the trial, and her forgiveness of the man who killed him. The 364 pages could easily have been reduced to 264 and nothing would have suffered.

If the reader isn't bothered by things like that, I'd say is is a wonderful book and highly recommend it.

I decided to read and review this book for one simple reason...I was intrigued that this book is authored by A Grateful Believer. Interesting! And one simply cannot find the author's name for he choses to remain anonymous. "He believes the person responsible for writing any particular book is nowhere as important as the message contained in within the pages." (from the last page of the book)
Shelby seems to have it all! But when her grandfather, Luther, passes away she is not mentioned in his will. Nothing!
Shelby feels betrayed and goes into a slump. Then a few days later she finds a hand written letter from her grandfather that is post dated.
This is where the intrigue, the mystery, the action begin.
This story reminds me of an allegory. The characters or events in this story represent or symbolize ideas and concepts. I'm probably reading between the lines but I see Shelby as me...you, the everyday person, the bank deposit box as the Bible, the six dangerous men as the evil that tries to so easily beset us, and the treasure as eternal life.
I was a little confused by the title, The Pelican Trees, so when I studied this word, pelican, I came up with...the a symbol of self-sacrifice. So, as I read this book I realized that Christ is our sacrifice and all.in.all this is what the total of this read is about...Christ, our Savior. Because as it states on the dedication page, "This book is dedicated to all who are diligently searching for the Truth."
This is one of those life changing reads written in story form. A not to be missed read!

I just purchased this book last week and finished reading it in less than a week. This is one of the few books I have read in my lifetime that I had a hard time putting down. The book was chalked full of mystery, suspense, action, teary-eyed, joyful, and miraculous moments all wrapped up in one. I enjoyed reading each page in this book because it kept getting better and better. I loved the fact that a number of people in Shelby's life found their way to having a relationship with God. This book really does reveal the kind of wonderful newfound life one can have with God and that He truly does exist for all those non-believers in this world. I was so glad this book had a such a great ending and it made it all the worthwhile to read it. I will most definitely continue to tell others about this book and also purchase extra copies for others who I know that could truly benefit from reading it. How amazing it would be if this book was made into a movie for the whole world to see. I always feel truly blessed when I learn the news that another Christian has written another great book or a producer has created a wonderful movie. These are the kind of books that continue to inspire every Christian and to never lose hope or trust in God's word and His love. I want to thank this truly gifted author from the bottom of my heart for writing this book that I pray will touch the lives of many for years to come and that they may come to grow and have a relationship with God.
