When I saw The Penguin Classics Crossword Puzzles online, I sort of freaked out. I am a huge fan of crossword puzzles, but I don't know much trivia about sports, military history, or music, so most puzzles I abandoned after many hours of frustration. This puzzle book is the perfect outlet for anyone who is a fan of literature and the classics.

Each crossword has a witty theme - some are definitely more challenging than others (although the publisher says that the puzzles are easy to medium). Some are rather difficult with more obscure works, but there are also puzzles that will take you back to your high school/college required reading lists. Tausig has a lot of experience with crosswords - he has contributed to The Onion, USA Today, the LA Times, and The New York Times. All together there are 75 great puzzles which will give you hours of entertainment. The solutions are in the back of the book, and they are actually readable! Most crossword puzzle books make them too small to read, or put them upside down, but this collection makes none of those mistakes.

I've a thing for crosswords, but easy ones are no fun and extremely difficult ones (Saturday NYT) are not much better. I LOVED this book! Each puzzle is a challenge, the themes are amusing, and the best part is revisiting some of the literary references. GET IT! You won't be disappointed!
