What type of psychotic serial killer searches for the perfect woman, one who is truly special. She cannot be an alcoholic, a drug user, have a bad temperament, etc. She must be innocent. In this case, that killer is Buddy.

Buddy is a glass blower and is searching for the perfect woman to show for eternity. He strangles them and takes their last breath, placing it in one of his specially made glass jars.

Detective John Stallings has a missing daughter of his own, and cannot put that out of his mind while trying to solve these murders of woman. Luckily detective Stallings has a group of various people trying to help capture the killer. Unfortunately, Stallings personal life has gone downhill with the absence of his daughter, his remaining family still needs him.

Keep reading to see if Buddy can complete his goal to fill all his jars, or if the police can stop him in time. Definitely one of a great series to follow.

I want to start by saying, I absolutely loved the first 2 books! I could not put them down and recommended them to EVERYONE. I had per-ordered this book and was excited for it to come out. It was good but just not as good as the 1st 2. This is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

He calls himself Buddy and considers himself an artist whose milieu being glass so that his models live forever. He also does repairs to pay his bills and find his subjects. With his angelic looks and gentle demeanor, women hire him feeling safe with him. However, Buddy obsesses over completing his masterpiece. To do so he strangles selected females and captures their last grasp of breath inside a glass container customized for that chosen one.

Jacksonville police failed to realize they have a serial killer hunting their citizens. Detectives John Stallings and Patty Levine work the case of missing teenage Leah Tischler that reminds him of his daughter who vanished three years ago when she was sixteen years old Jeanie. When the corpse of a female strangled with Leah's belt is found at a construction site and another body is found in a children's playground, the JPD conclude a serial killer stalks the city. Obsessing Stallings is determined capture this psychopath ASAP, but knows that it will take a lot of luck to find this man who blends so well when in society.

The third Stallings Jacksonville thriller (see The Perfect Woman and The Perfect Prey) is a super serial killer investigation. Stallings knows time has run out for the next victim and though he feels helpless to prevent her death, he refuses to quit. He and his Jacksonville Sheriff's Department Missing Persons partner Levine are dedicated, diligent detectives who never give up once on a case though his hope to recover Jeanie ebbs and flows with his official workload. Faster than the speed of light, James Andrus provides an exciting tale as "art" steals life.

This book has good character development and a particularly awful killer. Not too many surprises, though. Also, I found it weird that all the women in this novel (and there are many more than usual for a book of this genre) are, without exception, over-the-top sexually aggressive. Not that a man would complain, but a bit strange to depict all women in this manner.

More About the Author

As a law-enforcement officer I often read police novels and notice more what's missing than what's on the page. When I started writing this series featuring Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Detective John Stallings ,it was my hope to show police officers as more than just robots that enforce the law. No, you can't go on the job without thinking about your family just like you can't go home without bringing a little bit of the job with you, no matter how hard you try. John stallings is like a detective I know; Honest, ethical and clueless when it comes to relationships.

The investigation of a potential serial killer is an entirely different dynamic than a standard homicide. Not only is there the drive to solve a murder but the pressure to prevent another. The confluence of administration, media, investigation and family can create a pressure cooker few cops can survive. Someone always loses. Sometimes it's the neglected child, sometimes it's the investigation and sometimes it's the spouse who sits at home and wonders why this particular investigation appears to be more important than home life.

As a career law enforcement officer, I rarely watch TV crime shows. This is not an indictment of how well written or acted they may be, but more an odd feeling of how different my life is from the cops on TV. That's why I am so gratified when I get an e-mail from a reader who is a real life cop and gets what I'm trying to say in these series of books.

The next book in the series is due for release in the Fall of 2011. It will follow the investigation of a killer as well as clues to Stallings' missing daughter which emerge during the case.

Thank you for taking the time to check out the books in this short commentary. For more information please visit www.James Andrus books.com. I really appreciate the fan e-mail I've received and make every effort to answer it personally.

Best,

James Andrus
