Book Description

Love is the highest religion...” - Samael Aun Weor The first of seventy books written by the founder of the modern Gnostic Movement, The Perfect Matrimony contains a complete introduction to the profound and beautiful mystical knowledge from which all the world’s great religions have blossomed. First published in 1950, this book contains the first public revelation of the esoteric teachings of Alchemy, Tantra, Kabbalah, and the mysteries of the Mayans, Aztecs, Egyptians, Tibetans, Eleusians, Essenes, and hundreds more. Herein one discovers the Doctrine of the Synthesis: the universal Laws and steps of the Path to Absolute Self-knowledge. Anyone who longs to know the mysteries of life and death through their own experience, to taste and touch the superior worlds, to know the truth directly, personally, will find the keys to those experiences here. “We have written this book with broad clarity; we have unveiled what was veiled. Now, whosoever wants to realize the Self in depth can rightly do so. Behold, here is the guide, here is the complete teaching. In this book we have lifted the veil of the Christic Mysteries. We have explained what the Christ-principle is. We have invited all human beings to follow the Path of the Perfect Matrimony in order to attain Christification.” - Samael Aun Weor. And yet, in spite of his wisdom and generosity towards mankind, he said: Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization." His lifelong mission was to deliver to humanity the total and exact science to develop the complete human being, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.

5.0 out of 5 stars There Are Two Ways September 5, 2002
As a long-time investigator of many different spiritual teachings, I have been exposed to just about every concept and idea one can imagine. Through out the world there are so many "rules" and "laws" and "unshakable" doctrines, it is near impossible for any seeker to find out just what is the truth. That coupled with the Doubt and Cynicism that characterizes the Western mind makes it an unmistakable miracle when anyone finds something that is actually True. There are so many false teachers and false teachings; there are so many books and so many schools: how does anyone find anything and stick to it?
The truth is, I have seen everyone I know (including myself) go from school to school, from teaching to teaching and from idea to idea, always looking for something more interesting, something more true to what I believe to be true: and THAT is the catch: I finally figured it out: I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN LOOKING FOR WHAT I LIKE. The problem is, what I like is what has always gotten me into trouble.
It's as if I have been trying to fix the problem with the problem. Honestly speaking, since I began looking for spiritual truth, and real experiences, I have been running around and around in the same dumb circles, precisely because I never changed MYSELF. Changing ideas and schools was really my way of avoiding changing. And those times when I fanatically fought for a school or a belief, I was fighting to protect what made me feel like ME.
What this book helped me to see is that there are in truth only Two Ways in life. There is the way to change for the better, and there is the way to change for the worse.

5.0 out of 5 stars Completely Misunderstood and Underestimated August 10, 2003
By Aspire
Theories and beliefs abound like weeds, we all know this. What is the point of reading another one? In truth, there is no point. That is why this book deserves all the praise in the world. It has nothing to do with theory, but rather with practical life. Nothing is more practical than sex, for it is the universal epicenter. Samael Aun Weor was hated by many occultist because he unveiled what was veiled. Occultism's Great Arcanum is Sex, and the secret of the initates is Love. This book is authentic Rosicrucian Occultism.

The Perfect Matrimony was the first book I read to make any sense of life's sexual issues. So many people today read the scriptures with disdain because society does not teach now to understand them. This is the first book that actually teaches one how to understand the so-called "antiquated" sexual conduct outlined in every religion. Society's utter disregard with the sacred Holy Cross of Man and Woman is more than ample evidence to prove that we do not understand anything about sex. The Perfect Matrimony is direct opposition with both modern religion and the materialistic philosophy that has engendered so much fanatical asceticism and hedonism. This book is not about locking sex up into a concept ("only for procreation") nor is it about pleasure ("have sex with everyone"), but rather it is about comprehending sex. It turns out this is something very difficult. How can we be "born again" if we do not first "die;" how can we be "born again" if we do not understand sex? How can anything be born without sex? What exactly is Jesus telling Nicodemus? The answers are in this book!

The author wrote what he experienced, and simply gives the methods to confirm what he wrote. It is up to the reader if he or she wishes to take up those methods.

5.0 out of 5 stars What is necessary to awaken positively? April 8, 2002
First published in 1950, this book was the first public revelation of the essential secret knowledge of every mystical tradition. Samael Aun Weor is direct and clear in his explanation of the practices necessary to awaken the consciousness POSITIVELY. Few know that everything in nature is a polarity, thus many who believe they are awakening positively are awakening negatively. Few know that most spiritual and mystical traditions have lost the most essential tools to lead their disciples to their own direct personal experience of the divine. Few know that many schools now lead their disciples (knowingly or unknowingly) into grave errors. This book clarifies and restores the knowledge contained in every school, lodge, religion and doctrine, outlining the underlying knowledge that all traditions spring from. An absolutely essential book for anyone who aspires to rise above the mire of the common and vulgar mind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gnosis & The Perfect Matrimony February 20, 2006
Gnosis is the precise science to free the soul from suffering. Gnosis has been expressed in countless forms through all the world's major religions, and never has it been absent except in the eyes of its multiple interpretations and adulterations... otherwise, by the uninitiated. It is for this reason that religions have ceased to serve their purpose, which is to teach those souls longing for the Truth how to achieve the very purpose of their existence: the complete Self-Realization of the Being.

This timeless and sacred knowledge is Universal, and therefore it is not limited to any sphere of conceptual theory or belief. It is direct experiential knowledge, that one acquires through oneself, which is not a matter of believing or "imagining," but of performing the necessary works. "Know the Truth, and the Truth shall set you free."

This book is the complete unveiling of the Key to unlocking the greatest of these Mysteries, and because of its audicity to detail the most controversial of all issues, the Mysteries of Sex, it has been highly contentious to many individuals who consider the sexual act purely as an animal function while ignoring its Divine Purpose. Therefore, after its first publication in 1950, the Catholic Church sought to have the author arrested... and they succeeded. However, this book sprouted the universal Gnostic Movement, inspiring millions to work towards the Self-Realization of the Being... as well as re-establishing the long lost heritage of the Gnostic Church on the face of the earth.

Within this book is the precise Science that the Soul must harness in order to reunite with the Divinity, Which has been portrayed by countless religions, all in diverse forms.

More About the Author

The name Samael Aun Weor is Hebrew (סמאל און ואור) and is pronounced "sam-ayel on vay-ohr." Samael Aun Weor wrote over sixty books, gave thousands of lectures, and formed the worldwide Gnostic Movement, whose members number in the millions. Though these accomplishments are certainly impressive by any standard, they are merely the pale terrestrial reflection of the work he accomplished internally, spiritually. And yet, in spite of his wisdom and generosity towards mankind, he said:

"Do not follow me. I am just a signpost. Reach your own Self-realization."

His lifelong mission was to deliver to humanity the complete path toward the realization of the inner Being, or in other words, the total and exact science required by anyone of any religion, race, culture or creed who wishes to fully and completely develop the human soul. The path he taught is the Path of the Bodhisattva, that mysterious and ancient wisdom long hidden in the bosom of every great religion.

"For as long as space endures
and for as long as the world lasts,
may I live dispelling the miseries
of the world."
- From The Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life by Santideva

The Bodhisattva Path, also known as the Straight Path, is taken by very few. While many aspire to the Light, the vast majority take the easier Spiral Path, which is accomplished over a much longer period. The walker of the Straight Path is rare because that road is bitter, painful and filled with terrors. Embodied in the life story of Jesus of Nazareth, the Path of the Bodhisattva is a path of crucifixion and suffering on behalf of others.

"The straight path, the upright course of action, the eightfold path, conducts us from the darkness to the light. Thus, this is what Christ meant when he said to us: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. - John 14:6

"Those who renounce the happiness of Nirvana because of their love for mankind, those who have the body or vehicle of solar transformation, the Nirmanakaya, are the authentic Bodhisattvas, who indeed walk along the straight path; they know the word of the Lord.

"Regarding myself, concerning me, I am a walker of the straight path; thus, I teach the doctrine related with the straight path for those who want to go on the straight path. As to those who do not want to go on the straight path, well, I'm sorry, but the moment at which they have to define themselves will come: then, to those who choose the Spiral Nirvanic Path, we, the ones who follow the Straight Path, have to say "good-bye," because we go towards the Absolute!" - Samael Aun Weor

Clearly, the Path taught by Samael Aun Weor is a radical departure from the teachings of the Spiral Path, and is even more sharply opposed to the far more common teachings of the Baalim, or Lunar Path. Thus, the student, when encountering Gnosis for the first time, is often shocked, outraged, or offended, because these teachings contradict much of what we believe or hold dear. Upon closer study, it will be discovered that Gnosis is indeed the Doctrine of the Synthesis, the expression of the Universal Wisdom in the heart of every religion. What is in conflict with Gnosis are the ideas and interpretations of mankind. Truth is One; it is the mind we have within which degenerates that Truth into opinions, dogmas, politics and wars.

As a vibrant embodiment of the Bodhisattva ideal, which renounces all self-interest and seeks instead to benefit others, Samael Aun Weor rejected any notion of personality worship or the attachments of followers. Throughout his life, many thousands of students projected onto him their ideals and their needs, and this continues to this day. While many worship him and make Gnosis into just another system of belief, his own message is very clear: the only Master we should follow is our own inner Divinity. To reach that inner Divinity, we must remove from our mind mere belief: we must instead study the path as taught by all the great teachers of humanity, and put those teachings into daily practice.

Perhaps most remarkably, what he wrote and taught was not mere theory: unlike most authors (especially those who write about religion and spirituality), he taught from personal experience.

"There are authors who write marvels, but when one looks at them, one realizes that they have not lived what they have written; they did not experience it in themselves, and that is why they are mistaken. I understand that one must write what one has directly experienced by oneself. I have proceeded in this way on my part." - The Initiatic Path in the Arcana of Tarot and Kabbalah (1978)

"No me sigan.
