Review

It's the late 1960s and Stevie (a girl) is trying to find her place in the world in a small town in Texas. Her best friend has moved away and she is in desperate need of a friend. Jason-Lee enters. He sees Stevie go inside a decrepit haunted house and decides she is the person who is best suited to help him with his problem - a ghost! He begins to tell her his story of the plane that crashed in his parent's field and the ghost-man who is now haunting him. The trouble is, he doesn't know why he is being haunted and he needs help finding out. Stevie and Jase begin an adventure that uncovers some town secrets that have long been buried.

I am a ''half-way'' believer in ghosts! When Ann Swann had this book published, I knew I had to read it. It is an attention grabber from start to finish. I felt little chills run up and down my spine. This book draws you into the story, as if you are actually right there . Anyone who is looking for an exciting book should definitely read this one. I am looking forward to more books by Ann Swann

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Memories! January 26, 2012
By Trev
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Hours of great Saturday morning cartoons, topped off, mid-day, by "American Bandstand;" the way Nestle's Quik, no matter how much you stirred it, left tasty, powdery lumps in your chocolate milk; the exuberant music of the late sixties, from Creedence to the Archies. Ann Swann brings all these cultural touchstones together in her novella The Phantom Pilot. Not only will readers of -- ahem -- a certain age appreciate the world Ann has re-created here, but kids of today will definitely identify with Stevie, the brave, vulnerable 12-year old heroine whose struggles and hopes cross generational lines. I can't wait to see what Ann has in store for us in The Phantom Student, her upcoming sequel.

Ann Swann took me back in time! The characters were so easy to identify with. As a retired Jr high reading teacher, I would have loved using The Phantom Pilot as a class novel. So many teaching and learning activities could be used with this novel. I loved it and cannot wait for the sequel.

More About the Author

Ann Swann was born in the small West Texas town of Lamesa. She grew up much like Stevie-girl in The Phantom Pilot, though she never got up the nerve to enter the haunted house. Ann has done everything from answering 911 Emergency calls to teaching elementary school. She still lives in West Texas with her husband, Dude, two rescue dogs, and one rescue cat who rules the roost. The Phantom Pilot was her first published book (Cool Well Press).

August 23rd, 2012 Ann published her first contemporary women's novel, ALL FOR LOVE, from 5 Prince Publishing. It answers the question: How long does it take to fall out of love...

The Phantom Student, Book 2 of The Phantom series, was published in October, 2012. Her story, Soul Gardener, was published in the anthology, Timeless. Alas, Cool Well went out of business, so Ann brought back The Phantom Series on her own. The first two books have just been republished as Stevie-girl and The Phantom Pilot and Stevie-girl and the Phantom Student. Book three, Stevie-girl and the Phantom of Crybaby Bridge, will be out soon.

Ann also tried her hand at self-publishing a short story called Chems. It is the story of a boy who finds a chemical-zombie hiding in his father's tool shed.

You may visit Ann at Annswann.blogspot.com where there are even more stories to read!
