Great Radio Series, very entertaining and funny. The song interludes are nice. Look forward to listening to all the shows. For a nostalgic feeling I wish I had a 1940's radio I could hook up to a CD player. The boxes measure 6 3/4" x 6 1/2" x 1".

I love the charachters and story lines. Julius is a riot! I never knew the kids were actually adults portraying kids. Easy to re-listen to a month later.

I wish the packaging could have been a different type of box. THey use that thin, white, hollow blow molded plastic that was used in the 70's & 80's for those cassette box sets. I accidentally slit the white plastic trying to cut the shrink wrap off. There are no tabs or pocket to hold the booklet in place when you open or close the box. If your fumbling trying to close the box while driving, I'd suggest removing the booklet before your trip.

I find the CD's a bit difficult to hear driving in the car. Of course my front speakers are in the bottom of the front doors. The recording level seems to have been to low when the CD's were recorded, but the applause and laugh tracks are noticably louder. I've experimented setting the radio's tone control to Pop, Talk, Jazz and Country to see which sounds best, and it seems to sound better on the Pop setting. I've adjusted the bass and treble too during playback.

I have not listened to the CD's on the home stereo yet but plan to in the winter months. They should sound fine on the home speakers.

There are 10 CD's in this collection that slip into plastic sleeves that are attatched to the center point of where the box hinges. There are two radio programs per disc.

What a laugh a minute. Just what we need today. Good old fun. My husband is a truck drive and he listen to these Cd's when he was on nights and was very glad that he was. Otherwise people what of wonder why he was laughing his head off. All I can say it is worth the money to have a laugh. Buy it.

Here is a digitally remastered collection of the famous radio program of band leader/comedian Phil Harris and his charming wife, blonde film actress/ singer Alice Faye. The show was an enormous hit for almost 10 years and has an irreverance and loose quality which is endearing. For first time listeners, it will take a few episodes to establish the characters but once the format is engrained, there is a lot of fun to be enjoyed listening to Harris playing the blustery, bungling goofball and Faye in support as the voice of sanity. The supporting cast are excellent, particularly Julius as the smart mouthed grocery boy. It is also worth noting that there was always time for Faye to sing a hit of the day so you can hear her renditions of many songs written after her film career had ended. Harris was no mean singer himself, specialising in comedy songs of the south and he usually sings too.

The CDs have been beautifully packaged and there are some excellent liner notes. It is also interesting to note that the programs have been issued "under license from Alice Faye Trust". This implies that there might be more goodies preserved and issued in the future.
