Perfect for Amatuer (and Pro) December 20, 2010
By Lavida
Format:Paperback
I travel a few times a year to the Bay Area and I love to take pictures, but I'm hardly a professional. As an amatuer, I really enjoyed this book as a guide to lead me to certain places to get the shots that will impress my friends! The Photographer's Guide to San Francisco is a great guide for all photographers!

Too many photographer's "how to" guides are patronizing or rather lightly shrug off issues such as transportation, parking, breaks for food, etc.

Lee Foster's Photographer's Guide to San Francisco proved to be a welcome exception. This was a book written for real people, you and me, and takes us in hand as though we were friends or relatives. Sensitive to our photo interests, it is packed with information telling us how to get to the right spot at the right time of day, what troubles we might encounter and how to avoid them, options for parking, and good spots to stop for a bite to eat.

The photos in this book are good illustrations of possible winning images we might aspire to bring home ourselves, and great incentives to re-visit spots which we have photographed previously without having had access to some of the good advice of this author. To my delight, it also revealed some special and hidden treasures of San Francisco that are not readily apparent to an out-of-towner.

Lee Foster is not just a good writer. He is also a true artist with his camera and patient enough to be a gifted teacher through his books.

I gave this book to my boss who is an amateur photographer, even took photo classes at the college level. He loves it and said it is very well written.
