I love the explanations in this book not just about photography, but the gardens that have been photographed as well. Even the gardens that don't necessarily appeal to my gardening tastes are beautiful in the eye of the photographer.

I bought this to give, but liked it so well I kept it and gave them a lava lamp. The best gift I ever gave me.

Am aware of several books on garden photography using film cameras, so this book that treats digital garden photography is very welcome. A large part of the book is devoted to developing your artistic eye in the garden....composition, light, etc. I was very interested in the author's aesthetic. Personally, I would not embrace back-lighting as much as the author does, but he is a successful professional garden photographer and knows what he is doing. The section on cameras and camera choices was necessarily limited. Also, the sections on post-production were confusing because I do not have the Lightroom software discussed in the book. For me, Lightroom may be useful in the future. Not a book for beginners, although beginners could benefit from the artistic sections. Intermediate level and well worth the purchase. I expect to refer to this book often.
