Product Description

Size: Picklemeister 1/2 Gallon

With the Picklemeister you can have lactic acid fermented vegetables such as dill pickles, sauerkraut or kimchi on your table in just 4-5 days. Best of all, the Picklemeister comes with a non-plastic, glass jar. The Picklemeister comes in your choice of a 1 gallon or 1/2 gallon size. The generous sized jar allows you to keep an abundant supply of fermented vegetables on hand. There may be no easier or more cost effective way to get your daily dose of beneficial vitamins, minerals, enzymes and probiotics than with lactic acid fermented vegetables. They actually taste delicious and are so much cheaper than many costly supplements. The variety of pickled vegetables that can be made is endless; from traditional dill pickles, sauerkraut and kim chi to pickled radishes, beets, carrots, okra, parsnips, corn, celery, squash, garlic, peppers, brussels sprouts, pumpkin, apples, beans, etc. Add to that your choices of an endless variety of spices, and as you can see, the sky is the limit. The Picklemeister is easy to use. You simply pack the jar full of your vegetables, add the brine, screw on the lid, insert the air lock, and set it in a cool place (60F-75) for 4-5 days. The Picklemeister includes everything you need to began fermenting your vegetables: a glass jar, a cap with rubber plug and stopper, a double bubble air lock, and a second lid that works as a weight to keep food submerged under the brine. Full instructions, plus a few simple basic recipes are included to get you started. Please note that the 2.5 gallon Picklemeister has a larger dia. so the lids are not interchangable with the 1 gallon or 1/2 gallon sizes.

I made my first batch of pickles and they were delicious!! The picklemeister is very easy to use. I will be buying at least 2 more. I've never owned the more expensive fermenting contraptions and I'm glad I don't have to pay so much to be able to enjoy fermented foods.

As others have said, the product is reliable and does what it's supposed to: helps you make decent pickles. But there are many very similar products out there (including here on Amazon), and a major drawback of this one is that the included lid does not screw onto standard, wide-mouth Ball jars. That means you can only use the special lid with the included jar. All in all, you're better off with a similar product that does screw onto a standard, wide-mouth Ball jar.

This is the best investment I ever made. I have a gallon jar for cucumber pickles and a quart jar for small batches of kraut or other veggies. Right now I have spicy giardiniera fermenting in the quart jar. I was buying fermented vegetable salads at the gourmet food store for ridiculous prices- now I can make it at home for practically nothing. It's fast and affordable and the possibilities are endless!

I started my first batch of sauerkraut and a week in it's progressing perfectly despite that it's summertime and a little too warm. I'm going to do several batches of fermented veggies this coming Fall and intend to buy a few more of these.

Good idea, but this lid doesn't even fit the jar tightly and it leaks. I've got purple juice on everything and it's happened more than once. I'm going to make my own from regular canning jars/lids and buy the air locks next time.

Very easy to use. I will be buying more in the future of the larger size. This was my first time so I got the smaller quart size to start off. Love the service from the seller and gave their info to my doctor. His parents ferments foods and he will be passing on the info to them.

The Jar itself is great, but the rubber stopper came loose, and as it came loose a bunch of rubber shavings and glue fell in to my pickle brine. I had to go to the hardware store and purchase a new stopper in order to continue using this. Also, the lid is very thin, it flexes alot, which is why I think the rubber seal came undone.
