This is a well written and illustrated book, but most of it is available for free from the FAA's Instrument Flying Handbook and Aviation Weather Handbook. Some of the illustrations used are exact copies. It would have been nice if the author had dug a little deeper into aircraft systems, for example, which is something the FAA books are lacking in.

My husband loves this. He is going to work towards his license; first time thinking about seriously since his uncle died in his own plane because he didn't check his fuel level & was just short of the runway. He is looking to this so much.

My husband's flight instructor recommended this book as a study aid for passing the Aviation Instrument Rating. My husband says it is the best book on the subject he has ever seen.
