About the Author
James L. Hargrove earned his doctorate in a study of endocrine physiology at Utah State University and conducted post-doctoral training in biochemical pharmacology at the University of Minnesota and biochemistry at the University of Iowa. He served as Associate Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at Emory University and in the Department of Nutrition at the University of Georgia. Dr. Hargrove taught a course on computer-assisted modeling in nutrition to students at the University of Georgia. Models were constructed with STELLA II software and in Microsoft Excel specifically in order to use the Solver function to fit equations to data. After 20 years at the University, he retired in 2012 and now lives on St. George Island, FL where his second most favorite aerobic activity is paddling a Hobie Mirage pedal kayak in Apalachicola Bay.
