I have ordered and used, with great student response, the other Poetry Friday book. I was thrilled to find this new book. As we begin to implement the common core standards and the next generation science, this will be a valuable tool. I will share it with all of my teachers. It is nice to have a poem that could easily be used to launch or review a science concept. The poems would also work well as a shared reading experience for my Third Graders. I like having K-5 in one book as it allows me to spiral up or down to meet the needs of all my learners. The Take 5 feature is practical and easy to use. Having the props ready will truly help to make the poem scome alive! I know my children's will find this an engaging way to teach science.

The twin challenges of CCSS adoption and finding time to bring best practices to our students are beautifully met by this second of the Poetry Friday anthologies and supporting website. Here Vardell and Wong bring a poem-a-week on CCSS aligned science topics in a fresh-off-the-shelf format. Teacher librarians will do any school a favor to slipping these bright, shining examples of integrated cross-discipline brilliance into the mix of language arts, reading and science lessons.

This is a great book for Science and Poetry. It meets the Common Core Standard of recognizing fiction and non - fiction from poetry. Even though the poems are categorized by grade level, one can use any poem at any grade level.

This will be great for our summer reading science theme - Fizz, Boom, Read! So easy to use their suggestions/activities I hope it inspires librarians and kids to share poetry of their own.

I love the Poems in this book. We work on one every two days in my science class. I teach 4th grade but use the other grade level poems as well.
