The content is too shallow and really doesn't give much to think about. Doesn't hold the attention of children well.

This book was ok but it is not my favorite. In the book, the words are kind of small and hard to read but besides that it a very cute book! (Especially if you like poodles or dogs in general, like me!) This book also has a nice moral in the end. Don't worry I will not tell you how it ends. Do not want to spoil your experience!

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute first installment November 12, 2013
Format:Paperback
Book Description:

"The Poodle Tales, "Poodlemania" is the first of twenty-four in a whimsical collection of children's books written in rhyme. Enjoy these twelve Poodle puppies' antics and escapades as they grow and well...become out of control. "

Faber's love and dedication of her poodles is clearly evident in both her books and website. The Poodle Tales website is loaded with books, games, videos, poodle club and shop.

Poodlemania is a funny and cute first installment in the Poodle Tales collection. The second grade classroom I read this book to enjoyed the story and illustrations. There were several laugh out loud scenes that the kids could relate to. This lead to a great discussion afterwards on what some of their own puppies experience at home and how they dealt with certain situations.

The small text, however, can be a challenge for read aloud. From an adult standpoint, the flow was a bit awkward and wordy at times- possibly due to the rhyming rhythm. Several times I was interrupted by the class with students thinking that I mistakenly skipped a page or two in reading.

Overall, the children enjoyed the story and asked for more installments to be read for future read alouds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great illustrations with rather small text January 27, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed sharing this book with my children. The pictures reminded me of the classic children's stories like Lady and the Tramp or 101 Dalmatians. n landscape mode the story displays pretty well, but the text is still very small. I loved the story, found the characters were enticing for my little ones and overall thought this was a lovely presentation, other than the too small text.

I got this for my granddaughter who is 5 and it was a bit much for her. She liked it at first but it was too long to hold her interest for the whole book. The story is good but for an older child

I love to read aloud to kids ... This book appealed to me because I have two standard poodles that are a very very special part of our family...loved by all our generations. I was just disappointed ... Not in the story itself ... But in the rhyme rythmn . It also is awkward to open the pages ... It is more of a stretch the picture than turn the page kind of book. I am sure I will checkout book two when it is available ... I think there is potential here.

It was a rhyming book. If you love dogs, this is a pretty good book for you. Though not for 10 year olds.
