Editorial Reviews

The Post and Courier, the South's oldest daily newspaper, located in Charleston, SC, is the oldest, largest and best news source in Charleston, SC and the Lowcountry, reaching 76 percent of the Charleston market in print, online at, via mobile, and now on the Kindle. The paper traces its roots to The Courier, founded in 1803, and The Evening Post, founded in 1894. In 1926, the two newspapers were drawn closer together when The Courier, which had then become The News and Courier, was purchased by The Evening Post Publishing Company. Both newspapers maintained separate news staffs until the 1980s, when those staffs were combined. In 1991, when it became apparent that reading habits were better served by a single, morning edition of the newspaper, the two papers were merged to become The Post and Courier. As with all newspapers on the Kindle, there are no ads and limited photos and graphics. For your convenience, issues are automatically delivered wirelessly to your Kindle each morning.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great Start for the Local Newspaper September 6, 2011
I subscribed the first day the P&C was available for the Kindle. I like it. There are formatting errors that, I hope, will eventually be taken care of. I've found only one article that was not complete. My only real problem is that the website says it's available on the apps for iPhone, iPad, etc but those options are all grayed out for me. Once this issue is fixed I would give it five stars. (But remember, it's a local paper, not the NY Times.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Sunday Paper June 18, 2012
i just wanted a Sunday paper this particular day tried this one since the one for my city is not available. I will probably not get this particular paper again because at least two of the articles were incomplete. I mean that i was reading these articles and they just stopped with no other page to continue the thought.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor Try May 25, 2012
I was really looking forward to the Kindle edition of the Post and Courier as I live in a rural area with no home delivery. The product, however, left much to be of stories were missing, many stories were excluded. I chalked these up to formatting issues that would be worked out. One Saturday, the Friday paper was repeated as the "news" and then one Saturday all that came was the TV section (I got my news from The State that day). I talked to customer service at the Post and Courier and was told that all problems would be addressed by I was not suprised to find out that customer service at couldn't care less about the content of a local paper in South Carolina. They assured me that they had delivered what they were supplied.
With no real accountability or responsibility for quality from any of the parties involved, I do not see improvement likely. I cancelled my subscription.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great news coverage May 16, 2014
The Post & Courier gives an excellent blend of local and national news. When on vacation, it is wonderful to keep up with what is happening in our home town. Usually we have to depend on USA Today and get adequate news during the week, but little on the weekends. We subscribe to the Post & Courier at home but will always get it electronically when we travel.
