After the Acai "scam" I was very skeptical about any berry, seed, or nut that seemed to be the next health craze.

But after a week of research I knew Chia seeds were different. A trial run lead to me having
more energy and increased focus!

Shortly after, I began to look for ways to make these seeds a part of my daily life using suggestions shared in "The Power of Chia Seeds: Ancient Aztec Diet Superfood".

I personally enjoy Chia Fresca, a blend of seeds, water, sugar and lime juice. The best part is there are tons of ways to make this simple drink to enjoy new tastes with the same end result...for me that means more energy.

This is a beautiful and useful little book that is well written and reveals the history, nutrients in, and benefit of chia seeds. I use chia seeds in my smoothies and home-made raw bars but it was this book that made me understand the tremendous benefits of regularly consuming this little nutrient-dense fiber-filled "warrior" snack. The chia seed has a nice omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acid ratio as well as vitamin C and vitamin A and numerous needed minerals. How fabulous is that? I do love that this book, in addition to describing the many potential health benefits of chia seed, details the possible negatives of consuming the chia seed (a scientific study showed increased markers for inflammation after study participants consumed a certain amount of the seed daily, I believe 50 grams, for twelve weeks). One of the best parts of this book was the recipe section. Excited to try Vanilla Almond Crunch with Chia. Yum. This eBook would be worth the price for the recipes alone, yet it is tremendously valuable to have all of the history and medical research along with the cooking tips and recipes. The book includes chia seed recipes for dishes such as: smoothies, salad dressings, granola, desserts, snacks and more. In addition, the book includes information and tips for growing chia seeds at home (and how to buy seeds over the internet, and an important cautionary tale). Happy cooking and happy reading~*

Simple, clear, valuable information on the history, nutritional value, different uses and benefits of chia.
There are some interesting recipes that aren't so far out in the jungle canopy that I would hesitate to try. Recipes for things you normally eat like pancakes and fudge. Worthwhile read especially if you are wanting to start incorporating chia seeds into your diet.

The author included some very interesting facts and history of chia seed, but if you plan on writting a book that inclides recipes and you say they are good for you, you shoild include nutrional info for each recipe.

I thoroughly enjoyed the historical, nutritional, and chemical analyses the author gave of the ancient food source, chia. Very well researched, and seemingly without bias, she made a subject that could have been very dry and methodical interesting to read.
