3.0 out of 5 stars Good coverage of Kindle marketing basics April 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A very good introduction to the basics of producing a Kindle book that sells. I rate it only at three stars because it was missing the kind of inside information that the author has shared elsewhere online, the kind of insights and advice that you get from a successful expert. I purchased this after I had exhausted information available for free about selling on Kindle, and was disappointed that I learned only one new thing - about tags. Still, if you don't have the patience to find the good free information, this short ebook would be a good investment.

I have some items that I have written and am interested in possibly publishing what I have written. I found this book to be very well written and informative. The author did a great job of explaining the process as well as the benefits of publishing a kindle ebook. There are many specific ideas and suggestions that were very helpful. The author provided a lot of valuable information in a clear and concise way, but did so in a way that was easy to follow for a beginner.

I really liked that he addressed how important titles, SEO and keywords are to the marketing of books. Writing the book is only the first step. It is very difficult to sell books without effective marketing! He provides excellent methods and suggestions to help the reader succeed in marketing and promoting. He also shared how to locate demographic and topselling book reports, which I found to be very helpful. This book is very helpful and I recommend it to anyone who would like to make money publishing their books.

1.0 out of 5 stars Advice from a dubiious source May 30, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Of all the books I've read about writing and publishing Kindle books, this is the most disappointing. This guy can't write worth beans! If I ever submitted a piece of writing like this to an editor, it would come back blue. There are typographical errors. There are grammatical errors and just plain awkward sentences and paragraphs. Frequently two sentences are separated by a comma. Does this guy even know what a semicolon is? And then commas are omitted where they are actually needed.

I read this on my Kindle Touch, which I dearly love, but the author does not understand Kindle formatting. The illustrations, charts, etc. cannot be read. Should I trust someone's advice on making money with Kindle books if his own book, or rather pamphlet, cannot be read on my Kindle? I think not.

There is very little that is original in the content. The "power" is presented in such a general way that it is practically useless. But, if you can wade through the sloppy writing, the poor formatting and the sweeping generalities, you might find a useful phrase or two. This is one time, however, that I feel I wasted my money and time. There are a lot better guides to Kindle publishing on the market, and at a better price.

My only consolation is realizing that if someone who writes like this really can make money, then certainly I can. Can I write better than this? Heck, yeah!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots Of Details Useful For Marketing Your Book March 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book has a lot of good information including choosing a niche, how to conduct proper market research, the use of blogs and social media and the importance of writing the book description. The advice on cover design was also helpful.

I have not studied copywriting much so the author's ideas on constructing the titles was new to me. There is also a lot of information on understanding the demographics of one's readers and how to understand their interests and needs. I also was not familiar with the highlighting feature and found this interesting to study.
