Your relationship with just a few people can impact eternity

When Jesus walked the earth, he focused his energies not on filling stadiums but on twelve handpicked disciples whom he mentored and equipped to carry out ministries of their own. For the past forty years, Jim Stump could often be found sitting in a café on the Stanford University campus, chatting with some of the most talented athletes in the world, getting to know them, walking with them, sharing his life with them, and loving them. He understands that the best way to have an eternal impact on the world is to develop deep and meaningful relationships with a handful of people.

With engaging personal stories and examples from the life of Jesus, Jim Stump shows you how to develop rich mentoring relationships with the people in your life, providing simple steps toward sharing faith and life with those you care about. Inspirational, encouraging, and practical, The Power of One-on-One will increase your impact on God's kingdom in surprisingly simple ways.

"Sharing the faith and providing mentorship, it seems, does not require the pomp and circumstance of a vast arena--a cup of coffee and an open ear will do the trick."--Pat Williams, cofounder and senior vice president of the Orlando Magic; author of Coach Wooden's Greatest Secret

"Jim's discipleship ministry is amazing. He has loved people into a life-changing relationship with his Savior by spending time with them and speaking into their lives in ways that are Spirit-empowered. You will be encouraged and challenged by his story."--Jay Barnes, president, Bethel University, St. Paul, Minnesota

"Jim Stump has been practicing for years what many desire to do. Learn from the one who mastered Jesus' command to 'go and make disciples.'"--Josh D. McDowell, author and speaker

Jim Stump is the founder of Sports Challenge and has been a one-on-one mentor to many hundreds of Stanford student athletes for over forty years. He has also served as chaplain for the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants. A graduate of Wheaton College, Stump lives in California with his wife, Linda.

Frank Martin is the author or coauthor of twenty books. A frequent collaborator, he has written books with such notable personalities as Nicky Cruz, Jerry Jenkins, Tim LaHaye, Dr. O. S. Hawkins, Wally Armstrong, and Jimmy Evans. He lives in Colorado with his wife, Ruthie, and their two children.

Having had the privilege of being personally mentored by Jim throughout my years at Stanford and beyond, I can attest to what is written in this book. Jim is a man of true grace and carries himself with a strength that I believe many men wish to attain but many do not know how. What I have come to understand through my relationship with Jim is that, contrary to the secular views of many college campuses, surrendering your life to Jesus Christ and living by faith is the only way to establish a life of true joy. Through his living example, I have witnessed many, many boys become leaders among men. The fundamentals of living a Christian life and developing fellowship can be found within these pages and speak on a level that few books can. When all is said and done, I would be most surprised if this book is not mentioned among other greats like "How to Win Friends and Influence People", "More Than A Carpenter", and "The 5 Love Languages". Simply an unbelievable book! Glory to God!

Simply put, this is the best book on mentoring that you will ever find. Jim's compelling journey as a mentor, sprinkled with fascinating stories and sound theology is outstanding. What did Jesus do with his 12 disciples? He mentored them. Follow Christ's example! Jim did.

This book is a must read because Jim Stump shares and expresses what is the culmination of many years as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ in a one-on-one mentoring role. God has given Jim great depths of understanding, wisdom, and insight in how to communicate well with people and share the Gospel. These truths are shared in great detail through the book.

I have the privilege of knowing Jim personally for about 7 years and I can attest to the Christ-like character and friendship of this man. One big take away from the book is the display of the power and grace of God through the life of Jim as he has been obedient to the Holy Spirit's leading. Second, this book has been a great encouragement to me to share my faith in Jesus Christ as I walk through my life. This book gave me courage by providing real life examples of the power of God to bring salvation to people, by using disciples of Christ.

I would highly recommend this book.
