Judy does workshops and presentations on a variety of autism-related issues, is part of the Wisconsin DPI Statewide Autism Training Team and a board member of the Autism Society of America, Wisconsin Chapter. Her first book, Making Lemonade, Hints for Autism's Helpers (CBR Press, 2006), shows how Judy has used the lemons of her autism to "make lemonade" in her own life. This is a short, informational video (approximately 12 minutes). The video is basically in the form of a Power Point that has been set to music. The pictures, text, and music are all touching and beautiful. I do think it is important that the video starts out with the statistic 1 in 91. I just informed those watching the video that the new statistic is 1 in 50 so that was no big deal to me. The outcome of this video is basically for parents/professionals to understand that the words they use will shape their opinion of people with Autism and perhaps create some empathy.

Our school presented a teacher's workshop on autism and used your video The Power of Words. Being a mother of a son on the spectrum, I was moved to tears. I know that your video touched the hearts of about 25 teachers today, and I hope they will treat their students differently with the knowledge that those students could be "taking a break" and not "being off task". I know I will be treating my students differently. Thank you!
