I've just started to go through this book but already I like it better than some others I have gotten. I think her advice is sound. It seems pretty realistic and has ideas for different people in different situations. The info is not very in depth however and the book has many grammatical type mistakes which bug me but you can still understand what she means. Definitely need a better editor for any updates. There are lots of recipes which I have not tried yet but am happy to have the resources to refer to if I have to cook solely from food storage. Also has conversion type lists in order to convert dried food to the equivalent fresh amount and how a cup of something would compare to a huge 5 lb. bucket, etc.

Buyers should understand that this is primarily a cookbook. Three-fourths of the book is simply recipes using a variety of stored food - freeze dried, dehydrated, commercially canned such as soups and broths, and perhaps home canned. The only advantage here would be how to rehydrate dehydrated foods for use. The one-fourth of the book that is devoted to 'how to prep' is so basic that I - like a previous reviewer - would suggest that the same information is easily found for free on the internet. I did pick up a tip or two, and the spreadsheet is good, so it's not a total loss, but so long as the the purchaser knows what they are buying, it is OK, not great.

I was a bit disappointed in this book. It is about 60% recipes. I was looking for more of an instruction manual of how to keep foods for long term storage "do-it-yourself" style. Not a bad book...just not something I will more than likely ever use.

Recently unemployed from my Property Mangement career, I needed some way to feel productive and contributing to our family. A few of our extended family members are "Prepping".
When I was asked by my cousin to help with a canning session for her prepping....I was hooked!
After some research, I ordered this book on Amazon and found it to be a great tool for me to get started on prepping for my own family. Covers all areas of food prepping from purchasing to storing and how to turn the food into delicous meals. A few of our favorites are Chicken Pot Pie, Potato Gnocchi and Southern grit Souffle.
Going to try to buy one or two a month for Christmas gifts for our family members.
I am known in our family for being a great cook. Now even if we are faced with an emergency, I feel prepared AND I get to keep my great cook reputation!

This is a must have in your food storage library. One of the best books to tell you exactly what to do with all those can's, jars and pouches of food storage you have been buying through the years. Fast shipping, well packaged and a great read!

The book is a great resource for storing real foods and how much is needed for various size families.
Very informative on "shelf life" of different foods.
This is a great addition and a must read for preppers before buying huge supplies of freeze dried foods at much higher prices

I appreciated the quantity recommendations and the tips provided by this book. So many are vague or leave out info that a beginner needs to know.
