If you're tired of listening to the pop music created today by teen stars (think Miley, Taylor Swift, the HSM kids, etc...), this cd will change your opinion of music made by teenagers.
There are four songs on this LP, the best one in my opinion being "My Medicine". Taylor Momsen has a hard rock sound unlike a lot of artists these days. Her voice is raw and powerful, making her sound a lot older than her seventeen years.

I first heard the song "Makes Me Wanna Die" while watching the movie "KickAss". I've never seen an episode of "Gossip Girl", the show the lead singer of The Pretty Reckless is famous for. And I'm grateful for that, cause after hearing this EP I can't imagine this chick skipping around in a prep school uniform worrying about the day's school lunch. Well, I could if she also held a can of spray paint in on hand while flipping off the principal with the other, hahaha.

This album is nice, solid rock music. It has personality. It aint perfect, and that's what's awesome. The album still sounds produced, as does most modern music, but it's easy to get over that fact.

After this purchase, I'm really looking forward to the release of the LP, whenever that takes place. This little nugget will just have to tide me over til then.

This EP is amazing, but if you love the songs on the EP, you will want to buy the full-length CD, Light Me Up, instead. Yes, if you're in the US, the full-length CD is an import, and so it costs quite a bit more than the EP. But it's worth it! The Pretty Reckless rocks! Forget that the lead singer is a teenage actress. I've never seen her TV show, and I don't plan to ever watch it. But I am listening to her CD over and over and over.

And if you think about it, the price of the import CD is not all that much more than what new CDs normally sell for in music stores when not on sale. I bought this EP first, and I just couldn't wait for the full-length CD to be released in the US, so I found myself buying the import CD. Do yourself a favor, save what you would spend on the EP, and check out the full-length CD first.

I was prompted to find out more about this band after hearing the amazing "Make Me Wanna Die" during the end crdits of "Kick-Ass", which by the way is a fantastic movie! Needless to say the other 2 offerings on this EP are just as good! The band reminds me of a mix of STorm Large and PJ Harvey. The vocals are gorgeous and actually also remind me of P!nk in a way. The music is raw and engaging and the lyrics mature and enticing: "Somebody mixed my medicine, and I don't know what I'm on....."

I recently saw this band live at Irving Plaza in December 2013 and was quite impressed with this band... Taylor M has a great strong but sultry stage presence and more importantly can really sing, rock and belt it out. I have the first Light it Up album and decided to get this and the new Going to Hell CD from Amazon to complete my collection and I'm hooked. I'm no young whipper snapper (teen) and I'm glad that my friend brought me to the show to turn me on to this band. The first EP CD release was an import and a bit pricey at $35 plus shipping but had a unreleased song just had to have it -- I have not seen the Ep anywhere else -- I'm looking forward to their next release. Glad I found it here.
