Over the years, we've seen classic game shows that have delivered as computer games. These past years, the classic standouts like Jeopardy!, Wheel Of Fortune, and Family Feud have continued to deliver not just to hard core fans, but anyone who is interested in nostalgia. However, we've started to see new game shows finally make it to the P.C. including Deal Or No Deal, and Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader? But, with all the different game shows, The Price Is Right has definitely been one of the most difficult to deliver as a video game. The longtime show which has dominated for over 35 years on CBS with Bob Barker and recently with Drew Carey, has continued to deliver to fans all over, but has been absent from delivering as a home game so many times. Now, a new video game edition of The Price Is Right is available for the computer for the first time in over 20 years, since the Commodore 64 days. However, does it really allow gamers to say Come On Down!, or just down in out?

The Price Is Right for the P.C. brings the classic game show to computers everywhere. The long-running game shows show well in polish and graphics by bringing the classic studio and game design during the Bob Barker era well, and showcases a distinctive style top to bottom. The game includes a dozen games to the home computer including long-running favorites like Plinko, Cliff Hangers, Shell Game and It's In The Bag. While the graphics look great, and the sound brings back the classic theme song well, there are a few faults to the game that miss the mark well. While the game looks great, there are a few problems that miss the mark. First of all, there is a lack of pricing games on the video game.

After playing TPIR pc game for a few times, I can say there are some good positives to the game, but also some missing elements to the game. First, the graphics are pretty decent. The animations are smooth especially with The Big Wheel and Plinko. Also, the game replicates the sound and feel of the real TPIR. Some of the missing elements has to include the pricing games. They only included around 12 pricing games from TPIR. So gameplay can get repetitive really fast. Also the set is from Barker season 34 or so. Definitely out of date compared to the Drew Carey version with updated doors and music. Also to enter bids in, it is really tedious. Instead of just typing the price, you have to manually change the digit of each number to your exact bid. Also I sometimes get repeating item up for bids and prices to win already playing my 5th game.

Overall, there are some bright spots in this game, but also key elements missing. My suggestion would be to go to bigjonpcgames dot com. There is a free version of the game that includes all 70+ pricing games, plus some retired games. A really good free game that I would say is much better than this version.

This started out fun- However, after about 10 games or so? you will notice it has the same prizes over and over and over---- and alot of times it dont give the name brand (just stereo with hifi) hard to figure a true cost when i don't know if it's denon or gpx?! and when they do give a name it's mostly on food or hair care items (always the same ones btw) I played about ten games and already won about 3 campers, and 3 dining room tables with crappy plates----- and for sure you will be bidding on lipton noodles and dove shampoo about every game--blah
this would be very fun if only it had more product support (can only bid on items that a company will allow this game to use) and that seems like hardly any! and the cars (all 4 of them get lame quick)
oh, and the clothes you can choose for you avatar are sad-
the wheel looks nice however- :) oh yeah, the showcase prizes are always the same also (camper, table w dishes, trips to about 5 places----you will have won every prize this game has to offer in a few days of play! or sooner? if you have a good memory, you will rule this game quick! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Although the Price is Right tries to stick to the format of the TV show, after awhile I realized it was one long product placement after another. They focus on brand name products and it gets pretty boring having to listen to the announcer drone on endlessly about each and every item offered on the show. One GIANT infomercial. They play some of the most popular games like Plinko and Hole in One, which are fun. The spin-off is authentic. But during the spin-off, whoever designer the animatons of the computer contestants needed to improve the quality. The contestants keep scratching themselves like they are infested with bugs! Very annoying. BUT, the game basics are all here and if you like watching TPIR on TV, you might like to buy this game for some not too challenging entertainment

Fun game if you like the show. There is however 2 down falls of this game, 1 - you must have the DVD in your drive when you want to play it and 2 - the prizes you bid on repete often and its hard not to memorize the prices, which makes the game less fun.
