I love this Redwood Cove series and loved this peek at the characters of the other books before they actually meet and fall in love. It's fun seeing how their paths cross before they even know each other.

The book is a quick look at the residents and visitors on a festival day in Redwood Cove. It gives us an introduction to the characters and the beginnings or sources of the problems that play out and lead to romance in the follow on books. I like Alesha's writing style and these sweet romances and hope she continues to write about the lovely, mystical town of Redwood Cove.

4.0 out of 5 stars I Was Really Wrong This Time December 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I like the brevity of the story, getting introduced to the characters in a short and simple way. Frankly, when I buy a book that says its the prequel to something else, i don't usually hold out much hope that its going to be any good. I was really wrong this time.

Getting just enough of the characters and the setting to whet my appetite for more, that was a nice experience. It doesn't hurt that I like salmon and the Northwest anyway. :-)

5.0 out of 5 stars Promise delivered! December 2, 2013
By Beejae
Format:Kindle Edition
As a prequel, the Promise of Redwood Cove was a perfect introduction to Alesha's series. I thoroughly enjoyed this short read even though I had already read the series. It was akin to re-visiting old friends and finding out more about their previous lives.
If I had read the prequel first, I would have been hooked on the rest of the series anyway, so from both angles the 'Promise'
delivered!
Thank you Alesha - waiting for the next one now????

4.0 out of 5 stars LOVED getting to know these characters better. October 5, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Yes, this is short...but well worth the read before you dive into this great series. I fell in love with this town and these characters, so reading this prequel AFTER was awesome...more detail about how they all arrived in Redwood Cove. Loved it...wish I could have had the salmon myself, bought a wind chime of sea glass and had a psychic reading. Felt like I was there...loved this series.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect introduction to the series... October 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As a fan of the Redwood Cove series, it was so much fun to read the Prequel and watch all of the characters come to life in one story. The Promise is the perfect introduction to the beautiful stories that follow.

As always with Alesha's work, there is a hint of romance and paranormal which together keep me turning the page. I love also how the community is so real, the descriptions vivid and the characters grow and evolve throughout the stories. And of course, I'm a sucker for a happy ending. These books never disappoint.

It was a nice story but rather boring and unimanigative. Very much like a story which has been told too many times.

More like a short story than a book! It was more like a chapter. A very big disappointment. I hope that It was free and that I did not pay for it.

More About the Author

Alesha Cary grew up reading mysteries and she still loves a good who-dunnit. But she's also a romantic at heart and believes we all deserve our own happily-ever-after -- we just have to find the right person. She writes her books with a bit of romance and a bit of mystery ~ and sometimes a splash of paranormal.

The mixture is different for each book, but you can expect to find some of each in every story.

Just like her characters, Alesha lives on the Pacific Northwest Coast with her husband and two cats. Their neighbors are deer, raccoons, skunks, foxes, mountain lions and bear, and far too many birds to list. From her window she gets to watch the whales playing as they migrate.

Alesha writes the CAROLINE DAWSON, HWE Series and the REDWOOD COVE Series.
