Book Description

Saraqael hadn’t intended to fall in love with Kate. It shouldn’t have even been possible. His kind didn’t experience emotion, and they certainly weren’t supposed to become attached to humans.

When he discovers that Kate’s dying and there’s nothing he or her human doctors can do for her, Saraqael realizes how deep his feelings for her run. And he understands just how far he’s willing to go to save her.

He vows to search until he finds a way to save her life. With the help of his best friend, Quincy, he embarks on a quest spanning the Estilorian plane…a quest that will forever change the future of his kind.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Prophecy March 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Saraqael will stop at nothing to save Kate, a human who is dying, and asks his best friend Quincy to help him on his quest. Quincy can't fathom his friend's intense love for a human, but he agrees to help despite his misgivings.

Quincy and Saraqael's bromance is a pleasure to read and their back and forth ribbing made me smile, and I would happily read an entire novel on their adventures. Hoygul, a new character in the series, might be one of my favorite fantasy characters ever. He was only in the story for about two pages, but his quirkiness left its mark, and I laughed out loud at Raine's head nods to Homer's Odyssey.

Fans of the Daughter's of Saraqael trilogy will love this short story, and if you're a new reader it's a great way to dip your toes into the Estilorian world.

3.0 out of 5 stars Two problems March 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I often read a prequel short story or novella, or the first in a series book. Personally, I like a story that can stand on its own but entices me to read the rest of the series.

While a bit awkward from time to time, the story was interesting and the characters became richer as time went along. The problem was the end.** It just stopped. Kind of like this review would if I had published it at the **. It was a very unsatisfactory experience.

Since there is a teaser for the first book of the series, I read that hoping to find a bit more about the story's end. No such luck. The book starts a new story that is only loosely linked to the short story. That is a common enough technique. Unfortunately, the book wasn't very interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars I absolutely loved this book! August 19, 2012

Really enjoyed this one! Couldn't put it down. Finished in a day. It's a great read like Revenge And Blood Sacrifice and both that I will most certainly be recommending to people in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Insight into the Estilorians March 3, 2012
By LYN
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read Becoming and was craving to know a bit more about Saraqael and the Estilorians. The Prophecy offers the reader an insight into this awesome world and a bit more knowledge on how everything works between them and the humans. I can't wait to read Central and Foretold.

5.0 out of 5 stars A taste of what is to come March 2, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Having read the trilogy, Daughters of Saraqael, I was more than intrigued to begin the short story The Prophecy. Ms. Thomas has delivered a wonderful short story to draw the reader in even further to the Estilorian world and have you begging for more. Instantly I felt the awe inspiring love between the powerful immortal and the frail human as Ms. Thomas continued to paint the eloquent picture of the romance that defy's the laws of nature. It did take me two or three paragraphs to get back into the Estilorian jargon and unique characters, but the familiarity of the names soon returned. It might be a bit of a challenge for someone who is new to the series, but I'm quite confident the original group names will not detour new fans, but further challenge and entice them to jump straight into the series and become instant followers of the powerful young adult saga. I'm eager to read the upcoming trilogy The First Born and I'm looking forward to getting entangled with new characters from the fantastical world of Estilorians!

5.0 out of 5 stars A little bit of history.... March 2, 2012
By Ana
Format:Kindle Edition
I loved this short story! I really enjoyed the Daughters of Saraqael trilogy and this story gave me that bit of added history that I was craving. It provided insight into Saraqael's feelings and what he was willing to risk for love. As well, it was great to read about his friendship with Quincy, which was more like that of brothers than friends. Having already read about these characters in the trilogy, I was glad to have more details to help fill in the missing pieces in my imagination. Of course, even in such a short story, Raine left me with some questions that I now need answered. Guess I'll have to wait patiently for my next visit to the Estilorian world!

More About the Author

Raine Thomas is the award-winning author of bestselling Young Adult and New Adult fiction. Known for character-driven stories that inspire the imagination, Raine recently signed with multiple award-winning producer Chase Chenowith of Back Fence Productions to bring her popular Daughters of Saraqael trilogy to the big screen. She's a proud indie author who is living the dream.

Raine is a hopeless romantic with a background in the fields of mental health and wedding planning...two areas that intersect far more than one would think. Her years working with children and young adults with emotional and behavioral challenges inspired her to create protagonists who overcome their own conflicts. When she isn't writing or glued to e-mail or social networking sites, Raine can usually be found vacationing with her husband and daughter on one of Florida's beautiful beaches or crossing the border to visit with her Canadian friends and relatives.
