5.0 out of 5 stars Protector gloves are the real deal., September 24, 2009

Wow! recieved the gloves today and tried them on right away before I got home. Very soft, buttery soft, I was a little concerned that they wouldn't be tough enough for clearing blackberies. Once I got home I had to try them out. They're true to their word. The thorns do not get through at all. Yet the gloves are so soft and comfortable I didn't find myself taking them off every time I picked up small items. In fact I left them on for a couple of hours out there clearing and working with fencing.

So I have to say I'm very pleased and highly recommend them. They are well worth the price too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing gloves and American made!, November 28, 2009

I recently bought a pair of these gloves for my wife, who is constantly getting punctured by our roses and bruised by prostrate rosemary.
The rose thorns do not go through these gloves and they cushion enough to prevent the bruising by the incredibly tough rosemary bushes when cleaning out under them. They are kind of expensive but worth every penny. These are a must if you work around plants that like the taste of blood. She also says they are the most comfortable work gloves she has ever had. She now wants to give a pair to her son for his birthday. Lucky guy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous!, March 4, 2010

Excellent fit and feel. Best gloves I've used yet! So far I've transplanted bromeliads, pruned two very thorny citrus trees and dug out razor sharp fountain grass with no injury to myself! Love these gloves!!! Best protection I've used thus far. I even got them wet and they did not dry out stiff like the others I've used.

These gloves were purchased as a gift for my gardener husband. They were shipped in prompt order and I am pleased to say were exactly as described on the website. I definately would purchase another product from this vendor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Desert Gardening, March 21, 2011

LOVE the gloves. After reading the positive reviews regarding the gloves online, decided to give them a try. I have a home in AZ, and I've been working on cleaning out brush surrounding the house. The thorns on the many plants make me look like I've been in a cat fight, and lost. The gloves fit my hands beautifully. I wondered if the length of the gloves would make it awkward to work. Because of the quality of the leather, the gloves are very flexible, and I'm never hindered in my work. I can easily go through a pair of gloves within a couple of days. These gloves still look almost brand new, even after all of the thorns I've been in. I love them so much I've already purchased a second pair to use in my home in TX. I think they should be renamed....The Ultimate Thorn Protector Gauntlet Gloves.....Rose thorns have nothing on the thorns of cacti, and Acacia trees. These gloves can handle it all.

I actually ordered these gloves directly from Bear Wallow Gloves after having found this item through an Amazon search.

I sometimes have trouble finding a pair of gloves that fit my hand (longer fingers and wider palm than standard) and sure enough the first pair of gloves I ordered was too tight. Working with these people to find my size was an exceptional experience. My email was answered promptly. They helped me determine the size that would fit my non-standard hand and the gloves were replaced within a week.

I cannot say enough good things about their service response.

Better yet, the quality and construction of the Protector Rose Gauntlet glove is outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Gloves, April 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
These gloves are the best for protecting hands and arms - to the elbow. Materials are heavy enough to keep really nasty palm needles and thorns from puncturing through yet pliable enough for comfortable working. Bought for my hubby and he said the only thing wrong was that we didn't get them sooner!! Thanks for a great product - very much worth the price.

The gloves fit like, well, a glove. I followed the measurement instructions and got a great fit. The gauntlet is really well designed. It's pretty long, and they rivet along the seam so you can actually use shears to cut them down to your perfect length without having the stitches unravel. Smart!

The features are solid. The goatskin is tough and I had no scratches at all after some heavy blackberry clearing, unlike with my regular cowhide work gloves which were useless for this task. On several occasions I actually wrapped both hands around the thorny vine and pulled hard, which I didn't expect to be able to do. The gauntlet is cowhide, easy to fit and prevents those previously inevitable scratches as the vines fight back. The little red Velcro band is effective at closing the top of the gauntlet; you snap it to the glove then use the velcro to get the size perfect -- and this function works even if you shorten the gauntlet to fit.

There were nice little touches as well. There's good information packed in, along with a packet of seeds, and a handwritten note from the folks who own the company.

It's only gloves? Yep. But when you claim total victory over the blackberries, you'll find the cash WELL spent. If I ever wear these out or lose them, I'll buy the exact same thing again -- my hands are worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Super gloves for working with nasty plants, February 17, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Protector Rose Gauntlet Gloves (Apparel)
I do a lot of work clearing out nasty, invasive non-native plants so that our local natural areas can become healthier with native vegetation. Some of the invasives have nasty thorns and spines, like Multiflora Rose and Wineberry. And our native Greenbriar, which I try to preserve, will hurt you bad, too -- it isn't nicknamed "Catbriar" for nothing. Finally, I always seem to get some Poison Ivy on my wrists between where my sleeves roll up and my workgloves give out. The price on these gloves gave me pause, but I believed the reviews, and I am very happy I made the purchase. If you carefully follow the measurement instructions, you will receive a wonderful pair of custom-made-in-the-USA gloves that fit your hands just right, and give you the best protection you could ask for. I have had them for about 6 months now, and they are well made and I expect them to last a long time. If you do a lot of work with thorny, spiny plants, buy these gloves. You won't regret it!
