This double album has 41 tracks running over two hours and features producers such as Ayatollah, St Peter, RZA, 4th Disciple, True Master, Purpose, Kalisto, Godz Wrath and Killah Priest.
Though it is Anton Kalisto and Jordan River Banks that really define the sound of the album. Kalisto really dominates with some solid sounds with the best being Listen to Me and Salute. In my opinion it is Jordan River Banks that shines the brightest and delivers the best beats. He takes Hip Hop into some unique, momentous sounds through Think Priest, Shadow Landz and the unbelievable New Reality.
Then we begin to delve into the Psychic World of Walter Reed, which is undoubtedly Killah Priest's greatest work. Pick your favourite Priest albums and combine them together and you are getting close to the greatness that is the PWOWR. It is like combining the best of Heavy Mental, Black August, The Offering and Behind the Stained Glass.
Priest delves into the deep spiritual world but keeps it real. Never departing from his solid foundation this really is a testament to a man that will not bow down to the music industry but towers so far above Hip Hop that he mostly unseen. A man that stands the test of time, a Priest that doesn't alter and will not bow at the false altar that the industry has become.
This album is so much more than a double Hip Hop album. It is as always a reflection of the world that we live in through the eyes of a man that has seen much more than many before him.Read more ›
The only downside of this release is Kill Priest was unable to get a proper distribution deal, I bought it from his website and he got to me in three days. It's unfortunate that an LP this great will not get the attention it deserves. Ensure more classic from artists like Priest and BUY the album.
I am a long time wu-tang fan (well not that long, at least since I started listening rap music). My fav is OB4CL and priest's classic album Heavy Mental. As a kid whos into all kinds of music, I still remember the first time I listened Heavy mental, It was 2006 I think. I was blown away by the lyrics, the thinking behind the whole album, that stuff is what makes us connect to each other no matter what language or what nationality. It was that kind of album for me, and before it I can never think of something like that released in rap game. It grabbed my core and changed me. It lead me to information, stuff I have had no idea before. It put an intent of finding out who really I am.
As my life evolved, I made choices and stuff, Heavy mental became more important to me. I believe every one is struggling some crap atm in this world, not just ppl reading this page or listening to music, every one of us is struggling in deep level. And stuff like this grabs us from our core, a core what we didn't even know it existed then guides us.
I remember listening to basic instructions, BIBLE for the first time. It was like "what is this? is this from 1995?" all those knowledge KP put into song, all that fantastic sampling...its simply a masterpiece of a song. I want every person in this world to listen that song and understand what it says in its core. Cuz thats life changing stuff. I haven't accidently find all kinds of information since those years, songs like this, makes you think for yourself and makes you wanna know what the hell is actually happening in this world.Read more ›
