It was not as enlightening as I hoped. Most of the book's information can be found in your general marriage and family social textbooks.

A wonderful textbook that is easy to read. Almost wish that I had bought it instead of just renting it. A lot of the information in here seems like it would be obvious, but the way it is written really makes you think about it and start looking at how people interact with each other differently.

I have often considered myself a fairly strong feminist. As such, I purchased this book for my Psychology of Women class at WSU. This book is a joke. It is full of the most biased, selective, straw grasping "facts" you could ever read. The chapters discussing birth control/abortion and violence against women read like a poorly scripted Lifetime movie. This book appears to be an audacious boost to the author's man-hating ego, that it actually sets the feminist movement back 50 years. As a previous reviewer stated, if this book is required for a class, run.

If I could give Dr. Matlin half a star or none at all I would. In the past I have enjoyed psychology classes and I wish I would have read the reviews and ran. In fairness part of my disdain is in how the class is being conducted the rest of it comes from the man hating diatribe that continually flavors this book. If you were to read this book not knowing or understanding anything else you would think Lesbians have the best relationships, and Heterosexuals the worst. The blatant bias in this book which pushes against bias is awful. I plan to email the author to help correct many of her misrepresentations of minority women in traditional relationships. I agree with the other reviewers, run while you can.

I am renting this book right now and it is starting to fall apart. The binding in the back is coming apart, there is a page in the back that has already come out of the book, and it is just in terrible shape. I would think that they would rent out books that are in better shape than this.
