Book Description

James Benton might be the last man on earth. Racing to get to work, he finds random abandoned cars, smoldering pile-ups, and something even stranger. Everywhere he goes there's no grass, no people, not even a bird in the sky. Alone in a barren world, James travels west in search of someone, anyone who might have survived The Quiet.

"I'm a Robert S. Wilson fan from now on!"--Joe McKinney, author of Flesh Eaters and Apocalypse of the Dead

"Wilson is a dark force to be reckoned with."--Trent Zelazny, author of Destination Unknown and Fractal Despondency

4.0 out of 5 stars The Quiet August 8, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Creepy! What would you do if you woke up and found yourself to be the only person left alive as far as the eye could see. James wakes up on a typical morning making his way to work when he notices that there are burning piles of metal, wrecked cars and not another soul in site. Nothing green! Nothing growing! Just nothing! This short story by Robert Shane Wilson takes you on an emotional journey with the main character in this book. You can't go wrong with this short story. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical 99 Cent Story August 3, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
There are lots of ways you can spend a dollar. However, one of the best ways you can do it is by purchasing this Novella. The Quiet is a great story that could easily sell for far more. Wilson tells the tale of an ordinary man who wakes up in a world where seemingly all life as vanished literally over night.

This is a well written story with great voice, gritty detail, and raw emotions. Purchase this story for a great read for a great price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't compare to other books August 10, 2011
By Amy F.
Format:Kindle Edition
My first initial reaction was that it was reading like The Stand. However, once I read the next few pages, it was it's own story. I would hate to put in that type of situation. It was a great read, something I would enjoy reading again and again. Completely worth the price. Highly recommended. Don't compare this to what you have already read. Nothing like it!

This is barely a novella, it is so short and unfinished,, more like a partial outline of a story idea. Read more

I thought I was in for a treat as the story held my interest initially. The story is well written but moves too quickly the farther you get into the book. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Good sci-fi yarn
A few inconsistencies in the story line caused the 4 star rating, however The Quiet was a good read along the Ray Bradbury vein. Left me wanting more, which is always a good sign. Read more

I was disappointed with this story. After reaching the positive reviews, I expected a well developed plot. It felt hurried and uninspired. I would not recommend this story.

More About the Author

Robert S. Wilson was born in Bloomington, Indiana during the blizzard of '78. His first taste for science fiction and horror came from watching episodes of The Twilight Zone and the stories his mother told him about a supposedly haunted house his family once lived in. He is the author of SHINING IN CRIMSON and FADING IN DARKNESS, books one and two of his dystopian vampire series: EMPIRE OF BLOOD. Robert is also one of three co-editers of the Bram Stoker Award-nominated HORROR FOR GOOD: A CHARITABLE ANTHOLOGY published by Cutting Block Press.

EXIT REALITY: A RAY GARRET/LIFELINE TECHNO THRILLER, the first novella in Robert's new fast-paced cyberpunk/horror/crime series is also now available on Amazon from Blood Bound Books.

Robert lives in Middle Tennessee with his wife and two kids and spends most of his time wondering where all the time went.
