This book is a meticulously translated tale of ancient India, with all of the greatest elements of a great story thrown in - treachery, redemption, adventure, murder, passionate love, family dynasties, greed, etc. If you can read above a sixth-grade level, this book will richly reward every moment you spend with it. Thrones are toppled and regained, love is experienced in all of its richness and despair, and the adventures the hero has to live through are guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat. All kinds of demons and monsters are fought and conquered. Yes, the translation is old-fashioned, but so beautiful that only the most determinedly modern reader will balk at reading it. It is well worth the time and thought that it will require.

I found this book easy to read and understand. T would recommend it to others who are unfamiliar with the Hindu culture.

Well written and verses which flow so beautifully. I can only imagine the amount of hard work that must have gone into writing these beautiful words together into one beautiful poem

This is an excellent book for the youth to start with; when trying to learn about the indian culture and it's formation. How good will always prevail no matter what.

I have read portions of this in high school. I was very pleased to have come across it again. It is a very difficult read when beginning, but it gets easier.

need a spiritual read? Esp if you follow hinduism? Ramayan is probably an epic tale, but there a countless messages in it. If you can read it with full heart, then you'll feel that divine difference..

When you start the book, it seems a bit boring. But once you get hooked up, better than a new blockbuster novel with so much wisdom imbedded.
