Editorial Reviews

The first DVD of German masters of ambitious rock! "The RPWL Live Experience" features an impressive performance, filmed in mid February at the Wyspia++¤ski Theatre in Katowice, where RPWL played as the headliner on the second day of the ProgRock festival. The band's music definitely has its own style - modern, yet also drawing from the best traditions of the prog-rock genre. All in all - brilliant compositions, catchy melodies, mature and intriguing sound! The set-list included RPWL's greatest hits such as "Hole In The Sky", "Breathe In, Breathe Out", "Three Lights", "Trying To Kiss The Sun" or "Roses". The DVD also features an interview with Yogi Lang and Kalle Wallner, "Breathe In, Breathe Out" video clip, Tour Footage 2006 (incl. Sleep Demo Version), photo gallery, desktop images, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround sound and more! Also available: limited DVD+2CD edition, including bonus audio 2CD with songs recorded during the gig at the theater and limited 2CD digipak.

5.0 out of 5 stars fantastic October 4, 2010
I really like this concert DVD. The band is tight with their own style that is influenced by bands like Pink Floyd and Genesis, and maybe some Yes. However, they DEFINITELY have their own style as you will find out if you buy this disc. It is not a replacement for Pink Floyd, Genesis or Yes, but it is a really fun band to listen to and watch. I have watched it twice already and will watch it again soon.

There is one song performed that is a spoof of how people feel about them copying Pink Floyd and others. It might be my favorite song on the disc! It shows that they don't care what others think of them. Also, it is a really good song. If you are a fan of nicely produced and performed concert DVDs, don't hesitate to buy this fine one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Music! February 11, 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
If anyone is into Pink Floyd type music than this is the band. They are a German band who use to be a Pink Floyd cover band. The singer Yogi Lang sounds like a young David Gimour. I love all of R.P.W.L.'s music. You won't be sorry if you buy this. I do reccommend all of their CD'S. Such a great band. Listen to them all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars VERY under-rated band January 16, 2014

These guys absolutely deserve a share of the limelight alongside other prog bands like: Porcupine Tree & Riverside. Every member of the band is a top-notch musician (especially the guitarist and keyboardist). The songs are very melodic and well crafted and they perform them live flawlessy on this gorgeous DVD. There is a definite Pink Floyd influence scattered throughout (I believe I read somewhere they got their start as a Pink Floyd tribute band). But, that being said, they certainly stand on their own artistically & creatively. The guitar solo on "Hole in the Sky" ranks right up there with the some of the best ever composed as do the vocal harmonies & keyboard solo in "Three Lights". And speaking of lights- the lightshow is spectacular! I would highly recommend this DVD to fans of progressive rock along the lines Porcupine Tree, Riverside (and of course Pink Floyd).

I can't understand why it is that so many bands that absolutely suck monkey balls are so popular when there are bands out there like RPWL, Riverside (from Poland), and Porcupine Tree. I just don't understand.
There just aren't enough people who know and appreciate fine music, writing and musicianship, that all three of these bands I mentioned display consistently.

This is shot in the small, intimate venue Teatr Slqski (Silesian Theatre completed in 1906) in Katowice, Poland, also where "The Show Beyond..." was captured.
The sound is outstanding as is the 5.1 surround mix.
These guys just keep getting better and better. Yeah, I also said that in my review of The Show Beyond Man and Time"..... that's because it's absolutely true.

If you like old Pink Floyd, old Genesis, Steve Hackett, mellower songs by Riverside (from Poland..... unfortunately there are other bands with that name), and/or the mellower songs of Porcupine Tree...... you'll like this band.
